But, after losing the Conference opener to DeAndreis, they swung into high gear and took the remaining 9 Conference games and the Championship. After defeating Roosevelt in the opener, the Dragons lost to St. Louis, then to Sumner, Mr, Robert Brunette again coached St. Mary's 'B' Basketball team through a successful season. Freshmen D Under the inspiration of home-room teacher Brother Howard Gundrum 204 is working its way up to third place in the school Mlssion Collection, Throughout the year 204 showed an excellent spirit in this regard, Their generosity also shown forth during the Christmas Food Drive when the class almost reached 200070, With 204 lt was the same story as with the rest of the Freshman Division. The various activities presented by the school received fine support. Faccaro, Fernandez, Kristof, Mahfood, Mitchel, Rask, Trigg and Vaughn joined the Sodality. Brown and Fernandez joined the school Band while Schuck, Gebel, Mitchel and I. Brown joined the Glee Club. In the field of Journalism, Hoffman helped out on the school paper and Rask supported the Yearbook. Stephan, Rask, Daniele, Behr, and Kristof provided backbone to the 'C' Football squad, By using the zone defense in the Freshman intramural basketball program 204 was able to topple some of the strong- er teams like 201. Not to be outdone in generos- ity 301 worked its way up week by weelf so that by mid-year they had captured second place in the school Mis- sion Collection, BROTHER CHARLES LOHRENZ, S.M ,tb In the realm of athletics they sent more men to the C Football Team than any other Freshman class, These men were: Kanne, Renich, Ripper, Bell, Camarata, Cowie and Finnegan. While turning out athletes they also turned out some crooners, Camarata, Frysdale, Kanne, Kilps and Vander-Harr joined the school Glee Club while Fendrich, Moonier, Komadina, Kuhlman and Reiter joined the school Band. Nine men from 302 lent a hand on the 'C' Foot- ball team: Brown, Dittmar, Grimes, Harvey, Marshall, O'Fallon, Pudlowski, Rose- man and Wobbe. Only two, Pudlowski and Roseman, ven- tured to the basketball court with the 'C' Basketball team. St. Mary 's Band claimed the talents of Brown, Clynes, Kalbac, Klostermann, Sertl and Wachter. Ftmk, Gallagher, Gudiswitz, Lococo, Marshall, and Ternak gave vent to their school spirit by joining the school Glee Club.
