Tradition in Activities MANY OF OUR SCHOOL ACTIVITIES have become so perma- nently established that they now may be regarded as traditions. Year after year, students look forward to the usual class or school events with lively interest. Seniors always anticipate Frosh I-lat Day with the beginning of the term as their first opportunity to show their superiority over the fresh- men. Following this, the mighty seniors step down from their lofty throne to welcome the newcomers at the annual Freshman Reception. This affair brings about a closer relationship between the new and the old students. Then in December of the first semester comes one of the oldest traditional events of the year--- the Christmas Bazaar. The feverish excitement of planning, the competition among classes, the tireless efforts of the stu- dents ---all these qualities have firmly established the bazaar as the out- standing activity of the year. Throughout both semesters. initiative and talent combine to malce the athletic rallies, held, usually on Friday afternoons, delightful entertainment. The boys' vocal groups and wonderful accordian solos add to these programs and the impromptu costuming often provides the humor. School dances serve as an outlet for the students' boundless energy when each class tries to outdo the other in decorating St. Agnes Auditorium for the evening. However, The Prom complete with formal dress. is the most important and never-to-be-forgotten social affair of the year, and on Ascension Thursday, the eventful Junior-Senior picnic is always one of the most welcome fun-days of the whole term. To the seniors, the last weelcs of school with graduation practices. finals. parties and the graduation-night dance are days that are mixed with sadness, not only because they mean the dispersing of the class. but also, because they mean leaving St. lvlary's and the traditions to which all the students have contributed so important a part.
