, l lk' - -P! Z 1 7-.pl-Y - 65444 ag l?5l AfTer four years of high school, we, The class of I95I, face a fuTure which is much differ- enT from ThaT which we faced as freshmen. As we look back over our years aT SainT Mary's, we can see clearly, perhaps for The TirsT Time, The changes and evenTs of imporTance which Took place during our high school years. We shall never forgef Those firsT days of our acquainTance wiTh high school in The aufumn of I947. We were a bewildered group of freshmen enTering SainT Mary's, The school we grew To know and love. AfTer The ordeal of iniTiaTion, we were honored by The seniors aT The fresh- man recepfion, Senior Headaches. Because of our high represenTaTion on The honor and ciTizen- ship rolls we were hailed by Monsignor McGough as The class of The fuTure. As sophomores we were firmly adjusTed To The idea of being in high school. AlThough we were a large class, we showed our spiriT and abiliTy To work TogeTher by sTaging The mosT success- ful dance of The year for Fafher I-IofsTee's Iepers aT Tala. Carrying ouT The Theme of Carousel in bids and decoraTions, we Transformed Sainf Agnes audiforium inTo a veriTable circus wiTh pic- Tured clowns, Tigers, and lions gracing The walls. This effecf was made possible by The Talenfed arTisTs of our class. Dramafic abiliTy was shown by o+her sophomores, who aT The Chrisfmas sTudenT body meefing, produced a radio play, When The Chimes Rang ---unique in iTs presen- TaTion. AT The end of The year we won The coveTed disTincTion of having our name engraved on The honor cup. In our junior year our class was increased by The addiTion of a number of new sTudenTs. WiTh Their help The spiriT and originaIiTy of our class were augmenTed. For our dance for Fafher I-IofsTee, Bamboo, we designed unusual bids made of real bamboo. IT was in December of our junior year ThaT Monsignor McGough celebrafed The golden jubilee of his ordinaTion. As upperclassmen we honored The seniors aT The annual Junior-Senior Picnic aT Marsh Creek, and The final social evenT of The year, The Junior-Senior Prom, STardusT, was acclaimed a huge success by all who aTTended. The long-awaiTed senior year finally arrived, and we reTurned To SainT Mary's for your IasT Term. This year was marked by many changes. Sisfer Mary Esfher, O.P. succeeded SisTer Mary David, O.P., whom we had known as principal since our freshman year. We had noT been seniors long when we were saddened by The deaTh of our pasTor, Monsignor McC-Bough. LaTer, Fafher LesTer Ehrmann was appoinTed pasTor in Monsignor's place. Looking forward To The fufure wiTh un- cerTainTy, we redoubled our fervor in prayer aT our IasT reTreaT in high school. The Senior DiTch Day, The Junior-Senior Picnic, and The Junior-Senior Prom broughT us near our final days aT Sainf Mary's. As seniors we leave SainT Mary's wiTh a deep sense of regreT. The changes ThaT have occurred in The liTTIe world aT SainT Mary's have been paralleled on a larger scale in The world abouT us. The Korean War has broughT To many of us uncerTainTy abouT our fufure. AlThough The world inTo which we graduaTe is far differenf from ThaT which we envisioned as freshmen, we shall always Try To carry ouT The ChrisTian ideals and principles which we have acquired during our years aT SainT Mary's. We sincerely Thank our parenfs, our pasTor, and especially our Teachers, The Dominican SisTers, who have helped us Through our high school years. VIRGINIA PEREIRA '5I
