To us, The senior class of ST. Mary's, nineTeen-hundred fifTy will mark The compleTing of The preparafory parT of our edu- caTion. To The world aT large This may noT be a greaT evenT, buT during our four years aT ST. Mary's, we have esfablished a few precedenfs and have, no doubT, broken a few. When we firsT came To ST.Mary's in The fall of '46, we were The proverbially scared freshmen. Everyone felT much easier and aT home afTer The sTrain of iniTiaTion. IT was also in our freshman year ThaT we, and our school, made The acquainTance of The noble Dominican priesT, Fafher Hofsfee, To whose cause of caring for The lepers on Tala in The Philippine Islands we gave our undivided enThusiasm and help. IT was for him Thaf we esTablished our firsT precedenf. In The spring of '47, we gave a dance, Tala Time, for The benefiT of his lepers. A king and queen, prince and princess were chosen To reign for The evening of The dance. Since ThaT year, we have given a dance wiTh a royal courT To help Fafher HofsTee. In our sophomore year we were more sure of ourselves. We noT only gave an- oTher successful dance, April Showers, for FaTher Hofsfee, buT also broughf in The greaTesT amounf of foodsTuff in a drive for The Bishop's Relief Fund, and Thereby won for ourselves a holiday. Following TradiTion, we puT ouT The sophomore issue of The KeTTle in May of '48, By This Time Too, The class of '50 had a sTrong represenTaTion on The Honor SocieTy and won The Honor Cup a good number of Times. ln our junior year our acTiviTies reached Their high poinf. The class became more inTeresTed in The CaTholic FederaTion and Took a more acTive parT in The meeTings. Anofher dance, High HaT, for The leper colony: The besT junior-senior picnic ever, The Junior KeTTle, and a silver Tea Tor The senior girls were among our acTiviTies. We, as juniors, honored The seniors aT one of The mosT successful proms, Blue Moon, aT The Counfry Club. We also sTarTed The Tradifion of The junior-senior ring ceremony on graduaTion day. The success of much of our acTiviTies of our firsT Three years aT ST. Mary's was due in greaT parT To The much-appreciafed guidance of SisTer Mary ChrisTopher, O.P. We came back To school in The fall of '49 To have The honorable Tifle of high and mighTy senior hailed To each one of us by The freshman iniTiaTes. We gave Them a recepTion enTiTled Welcome, STrangers To show Them ThaT They were really welcome aT ST. Mary's. Our nexT acTiviTy was The Chrisfmas NaTiviTy play which mosT of us will remember. Long awaiTed DiTch Day finally arrived in February when our class wenT To The snow To enjoy The winTer sporfs. By The end of The day, beginners in skiing and Tobogganning kepT pace wiTh The experfs. Despife The snow fighTs, spills, and Thrills, everyone had a wonderful Time: and The day will never be forgoTTen by Those who parTicipaTed in iT. We are now graduafesg and as we look back over our Tour years aT ST. Mary's we find many people who have helped us To aTTain whaT we have achieved. Monsignor McGough, The Dominican Sisfers, our parenTs, and even The sTudenTs Themselves, have given us This help whose value we may noT have recognized aT The Time.
