MIST W H40 HISTURY It was here at last that day m September when as Freshmen we flrst entered the portal of Saxnt Mary s Hxgh School Makmg frnends and gettmg acquainted wxth the Snsters and th upperclassmen tool: most of our txme xn the first part of that year Our socmal actxvmes were mostly attendxng aftemoon dances But toward the end o the year we were gxven a chance to prove that we had really taken an mterest m school I was only an assembly program but xt showed that we had the qualltles needed to be a studen of Saint Mary s In September 1941 retummg as Sophomores we felt a ltttle bolder knowmg that w were now consxdered upperclassmen by the Freshmen We spent the flrst day saymg goodbye to our pals who were changmg thelr courses an greetmg our new fellow students Our socxal affairs were llmlted to the afternoon dances sponsored by the Band the umor or the Seniors Then our umor year presented Itself Here we were true Upperclassmen' Now xt wa our turn to hold dances elect ofhcers and to have home room meetings In December our hopes for havmg a successful umor year were darkened when because o transportation dxfhculttes we were forced to ellmmate the tradltlonal umor Prom But w1th th cooperatlon of the students we soon had the entxre school body buzzmg because we had though of a novel ldea Ar once posters were made lntroducmg the puplls to the mysterious Danc and the affalr was a great success The J was the abbreviation for umor acttvxtles We closed the year wxth flylng colors by assxstmg the Senxors m smgmg at thexr Bacca Wxth the summer over and September m full swmg we retumed wnth pride and enthusx asm as we pnclced up the duties that were expected of us as Semors Ir was our class that revlv and enforced Student Councll and as we had made almost everything else a success so we mad thxs a thmg to be carrxed on rn the hxstory of the school Dances partxes home room programs assernblles smgmg classes choxr practxces danc pageant rehearsals and newspaper work made our whole curriculum xnterestmg All these ac tlvxtles caused our school year to pass so rapidly that xt was May and we found ourselve practlcmg for Class Nxght and planning for the Annual Prom' Then ut was tune for final exams une' Oh how we hated to leave Baccalaureate Mas was over and here lf was Graduatxon mght We prayed for thxs mght for twelve years but no we wxshed xt would never come We dxdn t want to leave the good Snsters our s and espe cnally the place where we had spent our best and most joyful years But we are proud to be graduates of Samt Mary s Hxgh and we wnll new er forget our dea undymg Alma Mater .
