Edward Moley and Iohn Carroll look on as Marcia Daley experiments with hydrogen gas. 7 il A .Ji WJ' ' Q 14s?ff' Members of the Math Club are discussing designs which they constructed and displayed on the bulletin board. The patterns are based on the circle, regular polygon, and congruent triangles. Carlotta LaRocca and Patricia Hart lstandingl. Ronald Matuinas and Helen Ann Kraus tsittingl. Carlotta is pointing out geometrical designs made by the members. For those students who are mathematically inclined, the Math Club afforded the opportunity ol investigating phases of this field which could not be presented in the regular class periods. The Math Club is under the direction of Miss Amanda Loughren. His Holiness, Pope Pius XII, has ex- pressed several times within the past few years his own great interest in desire that Catholics science and his become students ot science. In keeping with the Holy members of the themselves to knowledge by Fathers wishes, the Science Club devote furthering scientific bringing information about things scientific to other mem- bers of the student body. Although 'they may not have launched another Sputnik, the Science Club has made excellent progress during the past school year. The group consists of about twenty-five students who have joined the ranks of future scientists. Included in the activities of the Club were entries in the Newark Science Fair and trips to various places of scientific interest. Under the direction of Sister Marie Ambrose the Science Club came to be an item of chief inter- est in the school. President , . . A Catholic high school newspaper should be more than an account ot student activities. To sponsor excellence in achievement and service to the school, to increase school spirit, to aid and inform students and taculty, to honor Worthwhile leadership-these are the responsibilities faced by the editors ot L'Etoile. ' The school year 1957-1958 marked the debut in print ot our school paper, which for the second year proudly bears the lovely French name for The Star, our Blessed Mother. In our high school years, often filled with doubt and uncertainty, We can all look up to Mary, Star- Crowned Queen of Heaven, to show us our way. X .J X
