Our excited and happy freshmen entered the audi- torium where they were welcomed by Father Meyer. Father spoke to them in a stern voice, tinged with kindness. High marks would have to be obtained in the following years. Cooperation among the students themselves, and with the faculty was stressed. Con- duct, obedience, honesty, and truthfulness are all part of the program which is to be found at St. Mary's. i . f SZ S ln the classrooms the freshmen receiveda preview of the studies and activities which would take place dur- ing the year. After the classes were appointed, the freshmen finally felt they were a part of the school. Sister David Ellen is helping Io Ann Sodano solve her first difficulty. Speedy freshmen in class in 201 seem to be already settled and waiting for dismissal. Ronald Mieman, Ierry Coyle, Iudy Henning, Alice llko, Patricia Kakerka, Louise Iaslowski, Mary Mullroney. 71 On September 9, 1957, Sister Agatha Maria warmly welcomed our freshmen in the audi- torium. ln her gracious manner she expressed above everything the importance of school spirit and unity in St. Mary's. Sister went on to say that as the freshmen enter a new school, they also approach a new phase of life which demands more responsibility to God and to their parents. In conclusion she reminded the new students that if they apply themselves to the best of their ability in everything, she will always stand behind them. Ideals are like the stars- we never reach them, but like the mariners on the sea, we chart our course by them. , 414 Jkt: K eff
