D011 Si T, .-,, -, 5 , In the year 1879, an educational endeavor was begun: its name, Saint Mary's Hall. ln that year a way of life for the Saint Mary's Hall student began, a way which has become Traditional, These traditions help make up our community at Saint Mary's Hall and add not only to the growth of our minds, but also to the fullfillment of our lives. After 104 years, these traditions can still be seen in every characteristic of Saint Mary's Hall. We are surrounded by traditional symbols every day: the uniform, the symbolic ties, the shield, and the Alma Mater. The commencement ceremony with the white dresses and red roses is a tradition which still remains the same as it was years ago. The striving for academic excellence we find at Saint Mary's Hall and the emphasis on the individual are other constant reminders of this noble heritage. The mot- to of our school, Teach us Delight in Simple Things, has been held dear by the Saint Mary's Hall student from the beginning . . . ln remembrance of our school's beginnings, we the La Reata staff have chosen this edition of the La Reata to represent our traditions, ones which the Saint Mary's Hall student respects-traditions which are still being carried on in the 104th year of Saint Mary's Hall. 1
