Two of the women owned stores. Margaret Hamill owned a shoe store, and continually went around in bedroom slippers. Josephine Ryan was the proprietor of a chain of drug stores. Poetic justice, eh? Perhaps the one who gave the most enjoyment to her neighbors was Anne Vlasic. Her rendition of various songs made the people stand in the aisles.
