A New Day Begins Another buzz of the alarm and a new day had begun. The thought of staying in bed tempted me but the burden of knowing that work must be done wouldn ' t let me rest. I finally dragged myself from underneath the covers and crawled out of bed. Automatically, I reached for my towel and shower needs and headed for the bathroom. The visions of a nice long hot shower made me almost glad I got up. It was quickly shattered when I saw three people already waiting for the showers and heard the talk of no hot water. After a ten minute wait, a shower was finally open. No time now for a liesurely shower, I had to hurry so I wouldn ' t be late for my 8:30 class. With hair dryers blowing and clothes flying, I thought I was making good progress, but the clock informed me that I only had five minutes to get to class. Racing down the hall and out the door. 1 ran all the way to class with a minute to spare. After catching my breath, the professor walked in with a grin on his face that could only mean one thing — a POP QUIZ. Oh no! I knew I should have done my chemistry problems last night. At long last, the quiz was over and the hour long lecture began. Finally, class was over and my stomach was informing me that I had missed breakfast. Gosh, I wish it was time for lunch but Economics awaited me. It was the same supply and demand curve we had talked about last week with a few new ideas thrown in. Finally, lunch!! Standing in line, I checked every jean pocket searching for my meal ticket. (Don ' t tell me I forgot it!) Relief. It was in my right hip pocket. I systematically moved through the line wondering which I should eat - grilled ham and cheese or pizza and french fries maybe both. There was no need to hurry through lunch, as my next class wasn ' t until 3:10. Walking back to the dorm I ran into some friends playing frisbee golf. I hurried back to my room and grabbed my frisbee with thoughts of a fun-filled afternoon. For the next two hours frisbees flew everywhere. Teeing off from behind Calvert, I remembered that I had History at 3:10. It was 3:00 now. That was the end of

my fun. I trudged up the stairs of Calvert wishing that I could keep on playing. To my surprise, the professor had a guest speaker who proved to be very enjoyable and interesting. With all my classes over, I headed over to the Student Union for dinner. I was not alone in this endeavor, for there was a long line waiting to get in. Dinner was the same, old usual thing. After dinner, I walked back to my room thinking about what I should do now. I decided to go to the library to do some much needed studying. I gathered all my books and materials and slowly walked o ver. Walking into the library, I saw my hallmates sitting at a table, but I knew that I should sit in a quiet, secluded corner by myself if I was to get any work done. After three hours of diligent studying I packed up my books and headed back to the dorm. As I walked onto the hall, the aroma of pop- corn greeted me. Following my nose, I soon discovered the popcorn and my friends two doors down. While munching out, we talked about everything from classes to friends to the weekend. Before I knew it, it was midnight. Time to hit the sack only to awake a few hours later to another buzz of the alarm. IT- ■£
