Faculty Director of Student Publications nrIIK Dial had its beginning in 1890, as tlic first attempt on the part of the students of St. Mary’s in matters literary. During its forty years of existence it has passed through a development which today places it at the head of collegiate literary magazines throughout the country. I’nder the capable editorship of Kenton Kilmer. '30. the Dial has enjoyed eminent success, in upholding the traditional standard of the Dial's excellence, and in furthering literary talent among the student body. The high quality of the essays, poems, and stories which have appeared in the Dial during the last year has occasioned widespread favorable comment on the part of reviewers, a fact which reflects credit upon the editor and his talented staff. The Hour Glass HpKX years have elapsed since first the “Hour (ilass sands began to flow. I'or ten years “the little brother of the Dial has recorded the events of general interest on the campus. Beginning as a class paper, the “Hour Glass has developed into a representative college paper, thanks to the interest taken in it by faculty and students alike. This year the “Hour Glass was under the editorship of James Leahigh '29. serving his second year as head of the editorial staff. With a staff of able and willing students to assist him. the editor added another successful and progressive year to the history of his publication. In addition to the regular semi-monthly appearances of the “Hour Glass. feature editions were distributed for the Catholic High School Basketball Tournament and for the Alumni Triennial Meet in May.
