ROSEMARIE ACKFELD- Sunbeam Reporter, Choral Club A Our quiet and thoughtful member-she entered St. Mary's September . of '47 and from that time on was a mainstay in our class. Appearing outwardly so quiet and calm, we are sometimes astounded by a sudden burst of energy or a sudden explosion of anger over some thoughtlessness of another. She likes to read and is one of those rare creatures who never seems to be idle or given to wasting time. Truly a good example for the rest of us. Her voice is soft and rarely raised above her normal pitch. She hates to think she ever disturbs anyone and takes great pains to avoid confusion. We think she is wonderful and we wish her all the luck in the world!! JEANNINE MCWHORTER- Co-Chairman of Sodality Social Committee, Sunbeam Typist, Choral Club Jeannie to you-our blue-eyed blonde entered our class in 1943 when we were a notorious Eighth Grade I and I mean notorious! J She has struggled with us and we think she really belonged with us from the very beginning. She is a very good dancer and the possessor of a lovely voice. Jeannie loves parties and is as happy giving them as attending them. She wants to spend some time of her life in Colorado-and if that's what she wants we think she should have it. Good luck Jeannie, and pleasant journey!!! KATHLEEN HERRMANN- Sunbeam Gossip Editor, Bach Club, Choral Club Senior Recital, Sodality Kathleen, know as Katie here at school, has been with us from the beginning all the way up to the end of our arduous climb. She is our pet soprano and professes a deep interest in dramatics. She loves to dance and act in plays. Katie is spoiled, but not too bad, she has a temper one profits by avoiding when it's burning but she forgives and forgets quickly. We have loved her these twelve years and will miss her. Next year she plans to attend Loretto Heights, in Colorado. We wish you luck, Katie. IDA KUHLES- Vice President of the Spanish Club, Bach Club, Choral Club, Sodality Ikie joined our class in 1945, our Sopohmore year, and has been a close comrade of ours ever since. She isterribly sentimental over small Scotty dogs and can get more excited over a dance than anyone I know. She likes movies and, check this, has no particular favorite star! Come graduation, she will either go to work or enter business college-her plans are slightly indefinite at this point. We have enjoyed her friendship for I these three years and we are looking forward to continuing this friendship for many years to come. Good luck, Ida, and don't forget us!

LLELA MARIE HEY- Sunbeam Reporter, Choral Club Our Colorado protege joined us in September of our Senior year. She is blonde and the owner of piercing green eyes, that seem to ob- serve much more than they reveal. She is extremely fond of pretty clothes as is proved by a look at her extensive wardrobe. She likes boating but can't swirn, what a combination! She also likes horse back riding and dancing. We have drawn the conclusion that we have a versatile and truly lovable American girl in this our Lela. Don't forget us and our best wishes for your future. X VIRGINIA OAKLEY- Senior Class Favorite, Sunbeam Reporter, Choral Club Virginia, known as .lackye to us, joined our class in our Junior year. This little gal became a hit with us overnight, her bubbling personality and blonde hair caught on quick and we soon found that if ever we needed to depend on someone for a job well-done, Jackye was our gal. She always came through with what she promised and for this we're grateful. We also want to thank her for giving our class a new life and vigor with her continuous chatter and wit. She wants to attend college and stay single for some years. I-lere's our hearty thanks to you, Jackye and best whishes for your future.. MARIE FUNK- Senior Recital, Attendant to Price Football Queen, Price Cheer- leader, Sunbeam Reporter, Choral Club, Varsity Our Mi -another of our twelve year scholars- is one of our star athletes outstanding in both basketball and softball. She is also Our Dreamer , when those green eyes begin to mist and then fasten on some point quite distant, you might as well forget the question you wanted to ask her- she doesn't even know you exist! During her twelve years here she has been the cause of some unfor- gettable incidents, yet she fights only for what she considers right. We believe in her and whatever she turns to after graduation, we know she will make it a success. Our best wishes go with you! BETTY ROSE HANDLEY- Co-Captain of the Class Basketball Team, Sunbeam Typist, Choral Club, Sodality This petite little item has been familiar with the halls of S. M. A. for twelve straight years, and we know we would never have made Graduation Day without her. Our Bets has been the best friend in need we can think of and one of our hardest little workers. She has helped run up many a score in a hard and fast basketball battle and though small, believe me she knows how to duck, dodge and shoot with the best of them. She has a sweet soprano voice and proved it in our renowned Minstrel show. We are certainly going to miss this ray of sunshine, and hope next year, but Betty, we will not forget you!
