They never see zfloe rnirogey of fact, but peer beyond the oolef of rniri and doubt, and pierce the wezllf of unborn zfirnef.-Luke Cosgroves SUTTER's FORT SPEECH. We are the '49ers. Yes, the Green Tie Class of the centennial year of 1949 bid our beloved St. Mary's a fond farewell, prepared to meet the unknown vastness called Tomorrow. We possess the same courage of the original '49ers, but other than material gold we seek everlasting happiness as children of God. We must remain on the Trail of Christian Education it we are to arrive at our goal, for fiery arrows in the form of persecution, bigotry, and sin will try to turn us from the prize we seek. The dreams, the hopes we have, with God's grace shall be realized! Of St. Patrick, our patron and a pioneer Christian, we beg perseverance and aid in all our undertakings. Our Alma Mater will always hold 'first place in re- membrance of things which gave security, sanctity, and succor to the corporal and spiritual lives of her loving children who will pierce the walls of unborn times. -THE SENIORS.
