SAINT MARY'S ACADEMY 4 PARSONS AVENUE HOOSICK PALLS. NEW YORK 1 2090 518) 686-4314 Dear Graduates: First of all, I congratulate each of you on this milestone achievement in your lives. Each of you realizes what you have done to earn the honor of graduating from St. Mary's Academy. Some of you have made outstanding efforts and are graduating with honor; others have not achieved this distinction but have worked faithfully and diligently to be able to graduate with confidence. And then there are a few who have 'squeaked through' and these, I am sure, are graduating with great gratitude. To one and all, I extend congratulations on your success. I also commend your parents who have stood behind you during your high school years. They have made significant contributions to your well-being and education. In fact, they have enthusias- tically joined a century of Catholic parents who have sacrificed to enable their children to enjoy the blessings of a Catholic education. The whole enterprise of Catholic education is dis- tinctive by the element of sacrifice it has entailed. To your parents and families I say a special word of thanks for the sup- port that they have supplied and exhibited during your years at St. Mary's Academy. And now, you go forth - to college, to work - and you are swept up into the vortex of a continually changing world. I would hope that your high school experience has been meaningful and helpful in your continuation to grow in understanding your- self, in understanding your environment, in understanding the complexity of the society in which you live and work, and in understanding the people who contribute to that complexity. This understanding is at once a wondrous accomplishment and a wonder- ful challenge. It is the first step needed to lead a life in this world which can be full and significant, dedicated and valu- able . On a more personal note, I am grateful for your support and affirmation during this past year - your last year and my first year at St. Mary's Academy. It is not easy for me to see you go forth from St. Mary's Academy, for we have grown to be close friends, caught up in the same goals: your academic, spiritual and character development. And we have shared many joyful and moving moments and a tragedy. To each of you I say from my heart - GO FORTH and spread His word through your example and speech. God love you and keep you,
