In 1966, you, like us, entered St. Mary’s Academy for the first time. During the next four years, you were always willing to give your time to help us with our many problems. Only now do we realize the great patience and sacrifice that this often involved on your part. This yearbook, which without you would not have been possible, has taken endless hours of your time, yet never once have you complained. For the many things that you unselfishly did for us, we thank you; for all that we failed to appreciate, we are sorry. Even though you are no longer with us, what we gained from knowing you we will always have. Whenever we felt down and out, and needed someone to listen to us, you were always there with your boyish smile and sense of humor to lift our spirits. We thank you for your friendship and generosity. From our association with you we have come to the realization of the meaningful things in life that will help us to enter a new adult world as better people. 7 8 Classes % 9 Zhere is a Zime Jor Study and Achievement JUNIOR CLASS - 1st ROW BOTTOM: J. A 51 Senior Monors A long awaited day arrives as the Seniors of 1970 receive their class rings from Fr. Gallagher. Hardworking Regents Scholarship Win- ners J. Clancy and J. Sennett leave at 2:30. K. St. Hilaire proudly receives the Betty Crocker Award from Father Gallagher. A. Hyland is this year's D. A.R. Good Citizen. Salutatorian, J. Sennett and Valedictorian, J. Clancy look over their Chemistry. 52 The Yearbook Staff plans, discusses, and works hard to make the 1970 Echo a success. 53 Class M On September 3, 1966, a new class was seen entering St. Mary's High School. Four years have since passed, and looking back we see a confused group, fiddling with those contraptions called combin- ation locks. This soon was conquered and we, those once confused freshmen, proceeded to be fascinated by the wonders of high school. Our second year as silly sophomores, a name well-earned, started off with a bang as Sister Josephine tried to maintain patience. Pat- riotism was our thing when our major project of the year, our float Freedom Isn't Free , was launched on the streets of Hoosick Falls, celebrating the Centennial Parade. Our class trip, entitled back to Kaydeross Park, proved exciting even though rain drops fell. As Juniors we continued our campaign to impress all our teachers. We then proceeded with money-making projects. Though everyone was doubtful of our ability, we pulled through with tons of paper, freshly washed cars, dancing teenagers, and plenty of baked goods. The lights shined as we worked to produce the Aurora Borealis , which turned out to be a radiant success. We then discovered that Roaring Brook Dude Ranch was never so roaring as when we Juniors treated the Seniors of 69 to unforgettable sauna baths, dips in the pool and horse back riding. As Seniors, suddenly a new word, and with no one thinking it possible we have come so far, we proceed to amaze the faculty. Our great comeback, the March of Dimes fund, proved our advance- ment from 28 as freshmen to over $20 as Seniors. As of now we are hoping that our play The Perfect Idiot , will be successful and re- warding. Everyone is looking forward to the Prom and most of all, of course, graduation, when we will be separated from the greatest part of our lives, and all will soon realize, the happiest four years we have known or will know. 54 Class Will We, the Class of 1970, of St. Mary's Academy, in the village of Hoosick Falls, county of Renssel- aer, state of New York, United States of America, being of sound mind and body (we think, regardless of adverse public opinion) disclose this, our last will and testament. To the faculty we leave a lot fewer headaches. To the Juniors we leave our many Senior privileges. (HA!) To the Sophomores we leave our reputation with the hope that they will live up to it. To the Freshmen we leave three more years at St. Mary’s and our well-used copy of Politeness to Your Elders. The Seniors now make the following bequests: Debbie Carswell leaves a long walk to school to Angie Roberto. Marty Warrick leaves his good looks and good nature to Jamie Nolan. Joe Clancy leaves his scientific abilities to Kevin Cullen and Bill Nugent. George Durkee leaves his old parking place to Joe Hoag. Darlene Rogers leaves her seat on bus 18 to Diane Wilkie and Sue Austin. Pat Walsh leaves her 69 locker to Bonnie Gorman. John Sennett leaves his VW to his brother Peter. Steff Bromirski leaves a second F to Stef March, and her Clayhill leadership to Karen Nowak. Curt Bogardus leaves his ability to arrive on time to Denny McGuire. Randy Squires leaves his good manners to Jim Thurber. Danny Luke leaves his farm chores to his brother Paul, (who usually ends up doing them anyway).
