THE SENIOR CLASS PRESENTS THE ECHO 1 9 ST. MA When the twilight shadows gather HOOSICK FALLS, N Y. Life always gets harder towards the summit - the cold increases, responsibility increases. During the course of the past four years, we have come to realize the truth of this statement. As the events of our high school days pass in review before memory's gaze, we visualize our journey to the peak, and know that the culminating joy of high school, graduation, is but the beginning of our journey to the summit of other mountain peaks. Sister Mary Josephine. We are grateful for all the time you have willingly spent trying to help our class through these past four years. As an up-to-date member of the old school, you have upheld the principles of life and shown them to us. The Class of 1969 also wishes to acknowledge the endless hours you have put into our extra- curricular activities, not to mention those of theparish. You were always there to run off stencils for Christmas Pageants, Ring Ceremonies or to manage the entire assembling of the Smorgasbord program. Every other function that needed attention was brought to you with faith that it would be done effectively. Because of your wise guidance and your infinite patience, we leave St. Mary’s with a greater appreciation of the values of life. We hope that when you thirut of our class, your thoughts of us are as fond as our thoughts are of you. It is our desire, therefore, to wish you many more fruitful years in God’s service. We assure you that you will always have our utmost respect and gratitude. 7 The Secret Of A Good Memory Is Attention, And Attention To A Subject Depends Upon Our Interest In It. It seems that back in December when the team started to realize how hard it was going to be to earn that first win, the players presented Shiland with a cigar in a glass case on the condition that he would light it up when they got their first victory. Yet, after a few months, Sister Jeanne Monica, their home- room teacher, had convinced them that high school was a place of enrichment rather than an educational maze. Their small world was rudely governed by a kangaroo court of upperclassmen. That year's annual class trip took the class to scenic Lake George. Here every- one picked up something - fun, excitement and glamour of chilly Lake George. A full schedule for all dominated the Sophomore year, making it one of seeming- ly intense study. Sr. Josephine, in her usual patient manner, persevered in training the class. Under her calm guidance, they successfully accomplished the 1966 Sopho- more Float. The theme was Prayer a Weapon for Peace, having Fatima as its setting. The debate about the class trip resulted in the decision to go to Kaydeross Park. Everyone had a scorching time, the fact being established by either burns or bruises. The following year, the homeroom teacher, Sister Marianne Patrice, introduced the class to a world of money-making projects. All-day car washes, stationery sales, paper drives and a number of dances expanded the Junior treasury. Standing above all other Junior endeavors was the amazing Junior-Senior game. Against the greatest odds, the so-called underdogs gained a 2-point overtime victory against the Seniors. The memory of the Junior-Senior prom that year will live as evidence of successful combined effort of the two classes to build a beautiful Beneath the Blue. To complete this year, the class traveled to Sit'N'Bull Ranch to experience the excitement of canoes, swimming and horses. Beginning their Senior year under the direction of Sister Philip Maria, the '69ers began work on the prom and the yearbook which were accomplished with tremendous fervor. Their Senior Play Carousel under the direction of Sister Miriam Anthony was also a great success. During these years, the studies and activities shaped the class of '69. Each of them learned that Life always gets harder toward the summit - the cold increases, responsibility increases. As the hour grows late, what will be their fate? 53 The Memory Is A Treasurer To Whom We Must Give Funds, If We Would Draw The Assistance We Need’ PERSONAL PATRONS A F r ie nd Mr. and Mrs. Leo Albowicz Margaret Archer Mr. and Mrs. John R.
