JOHN F. KENNEDY In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility - I welcome it. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation. The faith and devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it - and the glow from that fire can truly light the world. And so, so my fellow Americans: Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country ... He will forever be remembered for his furtherance of world peace and for the good example he gave to all. It is, therefore, only fitting that we, the Senior Class of 1964, should dedicate this yearbook to the memory of our late and wonderful president, John F. Kennedy. 3

ECUMENICAL COUNCIL The Ecumenical Council of His Holiness Pope John XXIII, of happy memory, is one of the most significant events in religious history. It is a move toward unity. One great purpose distinguishes the Council to invigorate the life of the Church. The dynamism of the Church is not an abstract fancy. It is a divine energy proceeding from the Holv Spirit It remains for us, the class of 1964, to be worthy witnesses to this vibrant life by fostering a spirit of renewal and rejuvenation in our own hearts and minds, in our life and work. Then shall we be worthy members of the Church as it renews itself in the Second Vatican Council. With the Church we face the future, and all the changes the future may bring, with open eyes and with an immense courage, hope and optimism.
