The Echo Presented The Senior Class of Saiat lUarys Hoo$tc)i %iiuf n. y. CONSECRATION Our Queen, our Mother, we give ourselves entirely to thee, and to show our devotion to thee, we consecrate to thee this day, our eyes, our ears, our hearts, our tongues, our whole beings without reserve. Wherefore, good Mother as we are thy own, keep us and guard us as thy property and possession. Page 2 Dedication It is with great feeling of pride and affection that we, the class of 1958, dedicate our yearbook to Father Ammering. As sports director and So- dality moderator through our high school years. Father has done much for our class as a whole, and the school itself. His kindness, patience, and tolerance in his work with the youth of the school will long be appreciated. Quick to understand and ready to forgive, Father always has an amusing story or anec- dote to relate. One can always feel free to ask Father's advice and help for any per- sonal problem and feel sure of getting his aid. In gratitude to Father Ammering for his endless energy and unfailing efforts to help those in his care, we sincerely dedicate this yearbook. S. A. With Father's friendly smile and pleasing humor, everyone enjoyed getting acquainted with him. As assistant to the pastor. Father Gerrity has shown much kindness and understanding in his work with the altar boys of the parish. Page 5 REVEREND JOHN LAMONDO. S. A. This year we were fortunate in welcoming as our new pastor and principal, Father Lamond, whose past experience includes work in education, sports, and literature. One of his literary accomplishments may be found in the book Why I Became a Priest whose co-authors include such renowned personages as Bishop Sheen and Father Lord. While serving in Boston he was affiliated with the C. Y. O. As a former teacher Father well understands and counsels us in our problems of school life. Faculty No traces of the endless problems of teaching, guiding, and encouraging are visible in the Sisters’ cheerful faces, but the impact of their arduous work is clearly reflected in the minds and souls of their students. Pago 6 AU the smiles from the class of '70 show a happy start at S.M. A. with Mrs. Burke, their teacher. Sister Bridget Marie beams on all fifty three of her First Graders. The Second Graders show Sister Matthew Marie and Mr. Andrick how straight and tall they can sit. Page 3 Sister Ellen Pius spelling stars proudly demonstrate their progress. Learning Geography is easy for these Fourth Graders with special help from Sister Clara Bernadette. Sister Francis DeSales, with the help of Saint Joseph, will surely see these smiling Fifth Graders on to success in their studies. pa je 9 Our Lord is certainly pleased with Sister Marietta's Sixth Graders who are working so hard to become good members of the Boy Savior Cadet Corps. The Seventh Graders are busy studying the past and present in their daily History class. The artists of Eighth Grade make the room look cheery for Christmas, under the supervision of Sister Elizabeth John. Page 10 Class Officers Sophomore Class Keegan, W. Sausville. 2nd. Page 39 Smorgasbord OUR SANTA CLAUS OUR ATHLETIC BANQUET MC When we realize all the time, ef- fort, work and energy that Walt has put into the betterment of St. Mary's, we can only hope that we, the Class of 1958, will do half as much for and be half as good alumni of SMA as he is. OUR ALUMNI PRESIDENT Our Alumni officers, Pres. Walt Wirmusky, Sec. Kay Guiden, Treas. Olga Eberle and ’ Vice Pres. Ben Nowik, are busily planning the program for the '58 Smorgasbord. In Memoriam Some of the happiness and joy of this, our senior year, was marred by the sadness we all felt at the death of Father Eagan, our beloved pastor. Everyone knows of the great kindness, and holiness of this priest. Almost every senior remembers some special kindness, advice, or favor that Father granted him throughout his high school days. Although we no longer enjoy Father's friendly smile and kindly work, we know he is carrying out his role as our spiritual guardian by interceding for us in Heaven as he did on earth. And as we were ever in his prayers, so is he in ours. Page 43 Patrons The Rev. John Lamond O. S. A. The Rev. Lawerence Gerrity O. S. A. The Rev. Donald Ammering O. S. A.
