It's the best foot forward for the Grand March! Everyone is enjoying the highlight of the social season---an evening that will remain forever in the Junior-Senior Bcok of Memories. JUNIOR-SENIOR BALL A bright full moon made the evening of May 8, 1953 a truly enchanted one. It was our Junior-Senior Ball. A huge rainbow and the walls covered with raindrops brought out the theme of the “Rainbow Ball”. Rainbow streamers looped across the ceiling added greatly to the colorful scene. Pretty girls plus gowns plus corsages equals an un- forgettable ball. Fay Weir. Shirley Demick, Noreen Finnen. Janet Sherwin and Jerry Eldred are really dolled up”. Joe Smith. Joe Braun and Richard Ciuk stop for the camera, then on to the ball. Peggy Ruditis and Robert Blinstrub A memorable evening!

Father Amrnering convenes with other officials of the Basket- ball Squad. J. V. Coach Shiland and Varsity Coach Smith to discuss basketball problems. J. V. Manager Bill Levandowski and Varsity Manager Rich Severson are looking on. JIM MOORE JOE MURPHY Remember the pep rally with Walt Wirmusky, leader? Weren’t those band players tops? St. Mary’s sparked by this enthusiasm, won its first game of the season from St. John’s of Albany on the High School Court. The score was 63-43 and the game was a Catholic B contest. During the intermission, we enjoyed a wrestling match be- tween Walt Wirmusky and Bobby (Muscles) Sal- luzzo. Cheerleader Ann Grennan held the posi- tion of managing Walt. The skit was a great success. Davock, Levandowski and Closson helped to back St. Joseph’s of Schenectady, on the losers’ court. What shots those were! St. Mary’s lost a close decision to St. John’s of Rensselaer on our home court. At the first quarter the score was 11-11, at half time the score moved to 33-29. The half brought a “bull fight”. The “live bull” was filled by Wirmusky and Elmer. The bull tried to attack “Muscles” Salluzzo and really did succeed. Cheerleader Nancy Driscoll threw flowers from the balcony to the victor. The final period found St. Mary’s with only five field goals. Down the ladder we go! RICH HAYDEN MIKE AKOURY DAVE CLOSSON
