JOANNE WINK June 1 1941 May 25, 1956 REQIJIESCLT IN PACE Dear Joanne: Tonight all nature sings with the untold beauty of the season's first snowfall. Our street, with its newly fallen white blanket and icy frosted trees, really reminded me of a Winter Wonderland as I walked home from mailing a letter. In your heavenly Kingdom of Kingdoms , we are quite sure that you are supremely happy. And, somehow, tonight with the inky blackness of the sky and the bridal white of the earth, both sprinkled with about a million and one of 'the crowning jewels-your loving stars and moonbeams-I could not help but think that I was experiencing Just a Little Bit of Heaven. Now, looking out at the snow and stars, I sit in my room and find it so very easy to pen my thoughts to you. Father Time marches on and we can scarcely believe that it will be three years, come May twenty-fifth, that you left us to retire to your Eternal Peace . I guess retire isn't exactly fair to you, Joanne. After all, we realize that being special guardian to our class isn't any easy task. We know that you have always been with us from winning our coveted possession the Cup to our Proms. Perhaps, when we felt your presence most was in our daily visits to chapel. Since you have spiritually shared every minute of our beloved days at S.M.A. with us, we would like you to be the PILOT on a tour of our life at St. Mary's . Yes, we the class of nineteen hundred and fifty-nine are truly honored to have you, our Special Angel, before the Throne of the King and Queen of the Universe. With this I close, Joanne, for I know that this is a letter that I need not mail, because, with a whispered prayer to you, it will sail far above our own Milky Way, through myriads of stars, through night and day. I know, Joanne, from now on you will continue to protect the class of 'S 9, your class and mine.
