lVlini-week is a chance for students to try something new. The students may take either one all day class or two half day classes. Students may take active classes which include sailing, hiking and horseback riding. Three are also craft classes such as macramae, needle point and oil painting and if a student needs it there is also homework catch-up. a. Dana Dover untangles her macramae. b. Beth Brown adds the last stroke to her oil painting. c. Susan Hanson works on her needlepoint. d. Elise Sugura, Anna Fazio and Elena Fazio head out for a game of tennis. e. Bern Koenig, Karen Nlowrey, Sr. Beverly, Barbara Schmitz, Anna Woodruff and Sr. lVlarie stop for a minute to enjoy the scenery during an all day hike. f. Jeanne Kitson takes advantage of the gymnastics class to keep herself ht for sports. g. Photography students Nlartha Sinclair and Nlary Pinkowski examine their negatives. 133

It mjec ID picts S1:lwooI9s ister This year 19 mosaics illustrating the history of St. lVlary's were installed in the schooI's entryway. lVlrs. Carol Anderson's Art II Classes began the mosaics last year as a bicentennial activity. The project was inspired by Sister Rose lVlarie Strassel who also arranged to have a new bronze sculpture of Our Lady installed in the niche opposite the front door. The statue was designed and cast by Portland sculptor Nlrs. Vera Scott. Art II students finish grouting thier project: a. Nlrs. Carol Anderson directs Debbie Chilton. b. Sister Rose lVlarie helps Debbie, IVlary Jo Cason and Christine Jones. c. Debbie Chilton. d. Terri Schumann and Mary Jo Cason are encouraged by the ground crew. e.
