Foreword fxf In Christgs Apostolate In an age when materialism is the basis of society and atheistic philosophies abound, the Church calls upon its mem- bers to lead the world to a regeneration of a sound Christian conscience. It is the duty and obligation of every Catholic to respond to this call. To pool our resources in the Apostolate of Christ would have unlimited potential to guide men to a Christian way of life. Because the Apostolate of Clorirt embraces all the principles of our Catholic education, we have chosen it as the theme of our yearbook. We have been fortunate, for the instruction and the influence of our sisters and our priests has built a sound founda- tion for membership in an active Catholic laity. To become leaders in Christ's Apostolate requires a three step program-spiritual preparation, and application. All three have been included in our courses here on Mary's Mount. Daily Masses, the easy access to the Sacraments, our annual retreat, the constant reminders of God's Holy Presence, and the example of our teachers unite to help us grow spiritually unto Christ. Nothing humanly possible is neglected in our intellectual training. The sciences, the languages, and the arts are taught by teachers who have specialized in teaching. Opportunities for the application things to Christ in our school life be carried over into our adult life. let Christ down. So, in the years ahead, when we chance, we have become negligent lishing us in Cbriftlf Apostolate. ALMA Principal To Mother Alma not only we, the class of '59, but the whole of Saint Mary of the Mount owe unhounded gratitude. Mother is completing her sixth year as our principal, but her years ot' de- voted and loving service to the Mount total almost six times six -1 years. She refers, with justifiahle pride, to the many fine graduates of the past as one of my hoys or one of my girls. Most astounding is the liatt that she can tall all her hoys and girls hy their baptismal names, This phenomenal feat can he the result only of frequently calling to mind the rememhrante ot these boys and girlsf-a re- memhrance that takes place where rememlwrances are best-in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. XVe are confident that the hest gitit' of gratitude that we can give to Mother Alma is the promise that we, too, shall remember '72 her always where rememhrances are lwest. The Cf.S.M,C. officers, and the mission representatives from the various classes assume the responsihility ot' the activi- ties ot this Christlike work. The student response to the sug- gestions ot- these leaders is such that Saint Mary ol' the Mount has ben ahle to maintain a tiirst or second place in the dio- cesan rating, howing only to its sister school- Saint Rosalia's.
