just before the house lights dim, there is some excitement in the rear of the theater as Audrey Black. the noted actress, is swamped by autograph hounds. liileen Edgar, an executive ol' Thomas Coukart's department store, arrives a little late with glean Klein, who is now a buyer of clothing for the patrons of Joe Rich- ardson's Funeral Establishment. The 'music begins and before we know it the most wonderful display of talent fs finished. Into the street slowly empties the theater. We now make our way toward the Club co-owned by Otto Herforth and Donald Vernau, where tonight the music will be provided by McFarren's jazz Band, featuring the saxo- phone ol' Phil Lawrence and the voice of lovely Pat Kirk. At a side table we spy Prof. Curt Andreen, still debating the immortal ques- tion--Resolved: To be or not to be. Accompanying him is John Byrne, D.D.S., and David Aul, television executive. The next table is occupied by the eminent tree surgeon, lid Kretzg Bowling Champ, james Brunig Air Hostess, Sylvia Eng- lishg and Einstein's new assistant, Ruth Carder. Following us into the club is Disc jockey Donovan and Sarah Wellinger, now director ol' the world wide Drive-in Theaters. Still good old friends from high school days are Anna Caparelli and Mary Ciccone, the two hostesses who direct us to our table. At the table, next to ours is the new owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Frances McLennan. XVith her is Mercedes Piedmonte, who now has her own French Art Studio. All eyes turn toward the door wondering, as Dr. Fabrizi hurries in from an emergency operation. 'l'here's no stopping Father Time and before we realize it, this wonderful evening ol excitement and pleasant surprises has come to an end. As we walk down Broadway, though weary, tw are not too tired to hope that the next ten years will be as kind to all 'our friends as the last decade has been. 1 Gaz.. N-

NVe finally arrive at the Opera House and at no more opportune moment for we are met by a host of familiar faces. It looks as though not one member of the Class of '48 was too busy, or too famous to help an old classmate step onto the first rung in the ladder of success. NVe are greeted by Robert Bruce Deberson, who has just graduated from the Leo Studeny School of Technological Advancement, where he was the hrst man to ever receive a D.O.P.E. degree-Doctor of Pinball Ethics. A gay hello is heard and we turn to find Eddie Hornyak, Rosie Cafaro, Mary lNIcTighe, Dolores Barone, and Rita D. Heckman, all of whom have just hurried over after their regular good-night tussels with their children. A streamlined limousine draws up to the curb, a chauffeur opens the door and out steps the wealthy Audrey Durkin, proprietress of the Swanky Dress Shoppe. Wfith her is Carol Cunningham, who has made quite a name for herself as owner of the Lassie Dog Kennels. Next we see joan Sughrue who has really come up in the world since she started modeling shoes with six-inch heels for Littles. Sauntering by is Mary jane Kelly who has just completed work on her revised edition of the book of etiquette. By a lucky coincidence the Association of Successful Nurses of America is holding their annual convention in town this week and here comes the bus from the hotel! As the Nurses descend from the bus we recognize Pat Lynch, Audree Weinheimer, Pat Dissen, joan Carroll, Eileen Brown, Dorothy Hurney, who have all done a great deal for the cause of humanity by helping to relieve the suffering of the unforunate. While there is still much going on in the lobby of the opera house we are reminded by the head usherette, Dorothy Guenther, that the performance is about to begin. As we all move swiftly to our seats our eyes glance over the crowd and we recognize many who are outstanding, not only in name today, but in our memories of high school days. Shirley Ann Carroll is sitting to our left, looking very charming, and we are not at all surprised when we hear that she is private secretary to Joseph Lackner, distinguished president of the renowned factory that produces Lackner's Chocolate Covered Dog Biscuits. In the Press Box, we recognize William Hughes, newspaper editor, deeply engrossed in conversation with Clifford Hudson, sports writer. We understand that they have both done a marvelous job in the field of journalism. Slipping into his place next to us is Bill Thompson, who has just returned from a business trip to Alaska Where he has been engaged in selling refrigerators to the Eskimos. We spot another group of socially prominent persons among whom are Maureen Gibbons, famous designer and seamstress, Jeanne Malloy, a successful secretary to Andrew Rockamellong Lois Adams, well-known social Worker, Pat Geis and Shirley Fevo, writers of that popular soap opera Loves and Adventures in Jungle Town.
