Here we are shore-encircled. Our existence is rarely threatened by world-battering events. We are sheltered from maior storms in order that intangible influences of faith and love may germinate and flourish in receptive souls. Our priests and faculty have pledged their efforts to disturb our languor, accelerate our growth, spiritual and mental. They must form the whole woman. They must fuse the circling bonds of education. Too often they are parted from us, never to see the effects of their endeavors. Only WE are able to demonstrate to the world the ever-widening influence of Catholic, Woods-fostered inspiration. FACULTY And who is the one we turn to when our studies pall? -to Sister Marie Perpetua, Dean ot the College- cu true friend to us all. While the circles of our college years ever widen toward that long sought after but often timorously awaited goal, we become proportionately more aware of the strong but subtle guidance of our faculty. The inevitable reading list, the dreaded blue book and the class meeting are only external threads in the interwoven pattern of their guidance. The Christian principles instilled in us by our teachers will enable us to step forward with the conti- dence resulting from the mother-inspiration of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. 9
