Class History Patron, Maris Stella. Motto, Auspice Maria Colors, Silver and Green Flower, Killlwney Rose In the autumn of '19 the River Grand, reflecting gold, red and orange from the myriad shades of its Redford foliage, received into its welcoming arms the scholastic ship GILMARIAN. The long voyage to the Graduation Port of '29 was sponsored by the Reverend John G. Cook and five Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The chartered crew, drawn from the neighboring country, consisted of Eugenia Gramlich, Marian Law, Harry Tyler, of Redford, Raymond Ankofski, of Horng Agnes Hope. of Monnierg Marie McDonough, of Grandmontg Marie Magnee, of District II. The young sailors determined to face all types of weather while a-sail, even though there should rise upon their horizon Arithmetical barriers and Geographical glaciers. Many happy hours were spent on the river before the ship entered the broad sea. Because of the inexperience of the sailors, the voyage was to be made along the seashore, rather than by a direct route straight across the blue expanse. Their first stop was at Port '20, where Jack Schneider, of Rosary, Mil- ton Kuhlman, of St. Theresa's, and John Hallman, of St. Anthony's, were waiting to join the sailor band of scholars. Dangerous waters were then experienced and THE GILMARIAN sought safety in the harbor of '21, where an expert seaman, John Flemming, from St. Bernard's, came aboard to help guide the ship to '22, where the crew found six eager recruits anxious to try their luck at sea. Mary and John McErlane, and Irene Prud'Homme, of St. Theresa's, Preston and Margaret Meisel, of St. Agnes'g and Ruth Perry, of Rosary, were initiated into the life of a scholar marine. Because of storm, the port of '23 was not reached. The crew, however, were not disappointed, for at the next stopping place, Isabelle Budzinski said that she heard that there were no GILMARIAN passages in '23, so she had hurried all the way from Visitation to be on time at the dock of '24, in order to board the ship. Great was the excitement when, nearing '25, the Pilot told the crew that a large group of people were awaiting the arrival of their ship. When the boat docked, Alice Cloutier, of Canada, Irene Cahill, of Annunciationg Page Thirty '...f...,...v.., ML... M ..,..w.-.....,..,...s,,N,- ., H
