I DEDICATIQ THIS FIRST edition of the Saint Mary of the Plains annual is gratefully dedicated to Bishop John Baptist Franz, the first Bishop of the Dio- cese of Dodge City. Bishop Franz was born October 29, 1896, in Springfield, Illinois. His ordination took place June 13, 1920. He was consecrated Bishop on August 29, 1951.
