I :ave adapted themselves to the underclassmen in many special ways. t The young ones . . . the true ones . . . . The bells of St. Mary's, which have played such a vital part in the lives of all her students To the freshmen who, in the Autumn of l959, entered high school as eager young. students, full f the spice of youth and tinted a faint shade of green around the edges, the sound of the ell, which they were now hearing for the first time, heralded the arrival of an entirely new signified all the ioys of young people embarking on an adult voyage and helped to dispel, omewhat at least, the fears and doubts which grip the heart of every Freshie. f For the sophomores, who have now become a little more schooled in the ways of student life, t. Mary's bells have become a reminder of faith, in God and their fellow-man, and of hope, that ope which will soon be carrying them into the strange, wonderful world of the upper-classmen. or the sophomores too, many ioyous bells have been ringing during this past year as they D radually became more interested in the activities of the school, took a more active part in the rives and campaigns, and finally climaxed their year with the Sophomore-Senior Breakfast. ln the lives of the iuniors, the bells, which have reverberated in their ears for so long, have ow burst into full force as spokesmen of their achievements. Activities such as the Junior ances, the special movies, basketball games, Homecoming floats and the Prom itself have left ith them many happy memories. At long last, the members of the Class of '61 have attained the tature of upper-classmen, and what a wonderful experience it is! X f l But alas, along with the new sense of accomplishment have come many additional responsibili- es and problems to face. Now they have passed the half-way mark in their high school career nd must soon prepare to meet the world and its challenge. I X X Yes, the days of the under-classmen are short, sweet and peppered with fun and memories. lt a world all its own, one which can be relived only in thought, retained only in heart. They are ays always to be treasured dearly, never to be skipped over lightly. And, in the world of the reshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors, the Bells of St. Mary's will always their own ial eaning.
