May that sweet Infant, Who loves children and Who wants them to be trained for Heaven, help all those who are in any way connected with the building of OUR DREAM. May He direct our Reverend Pastor, Father McCarthy, in the planning and flnancingg the architect in the designing, the builders in the con- structingg and the plumbers and electricians in their work. May He bless in a special way the societies, families, and individuals who in making big sacrifices, are aiding in the progress of a new Saint Mary High School for the children of Saint Mary's Parish. 3 iq-H-17 nu g ii A -2 E '?-2 i- i f g iq - - l l LL. While they were in the midst of their cleaning they came upon the records of the Class of 1956, from Saint Mary High School in Claremont, New Hampshire. As they read, amused smiles crept over their faces. Most of their charges had done rather well for themselves. In 1965, Professor David Girard made the first trip to the moon. His secre- tary, Elizabeth Ryan, went with him to take notes concerning the voyage. To their great surprise life was discovered upon the planet. Upon their arrival they were greeted by a creature in a space suit. It was joe Poirier. He had gotten there lirst and was operating a grocery store. In january of 1966, Leo St. Martin bought out the Buick Corporation with the pennies he had saved since high school. He is now vacationing on the Riviera. In 1964, jim Tebo won the top prize on the new TV show, The 366,000 Question. The category he had chosen was English literature. In 1963, secretaries, Mary Blood, Barbara Lacasse, and Roberta Morin in- vented a new kind of typewriter. It caused a revolution in the secretarial world This was because it typed words instead of letters. Immediately after graduation Joyce Freeman's face and figure could be seen decorating signs along the highways which advertised St. Aubin's Dairy Prod- LICIS. A few members of the class had gone into the movie industry. Cecil B. Rouil- lard, fRalphj, directed a money-making picture which starred Peggy Eno, the rising actress known as the second Grace Kelly, and which co-starred Armand Sirois, the Valentino of our day. A new hair cut was invented during this year by Roger Pinard, the singing barber. It was called the Daniel Boonecut and was first worn by Kenny Patch, famed cow-boy star. Also, Shortie Gaffney, basketball star, made it necessary to raise basketball hoops one foot over the regulation height. Gail Goodrich, R.N., toured Europe in 1965 while caring for Ronnie Masury, Wall Street broker on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Marie Boardman, R.N., was named director of the new National Polio Hospital in Washington, where she spent most of her time in the children's ward. In February of 1966, Rosalie Krupinsky Wilson and Dorothy Grover Ferland combined their talents and wrote a new cook book which is a best seller. The title is Scorched Foods Can Be Eaten. Aurelie Desmarais was hailed as the Woman of the Year for her contribution to scientific research. In New York, Beatrice Lague modeled the new, very short, American-look, hair style last year. Henry Lapointe became the manager of the Boston Red Sox in 1960 and is still holding the position. Also in this year United States Chiefjustice Louis Zuccaro aided President Charles Bergeron and Vice President Vic Potvin in settling an important basketball question. All three of these men are the youngest to hold these oilices in the history of the country. In 1961, Germain LaRoche conducted an all-girl orchestra which starred Lorraine Genewicz and Claire Latouche, violinists. Yvette Desrosiers was the pianist for this orchestra but left last year to be married. 26 Pauline Limoges and Lorraine Veilleux Went to Paris in 1960 and have re- mained there since as top-rank fashion models. In the fall of 1965, Dick Martineau gained the position of chief photographer on the staff of Life, The first stories he covered were the crowning of Beverly Hamel Paul as Mrs. America and a wrestling championship match held at Madi- son Square Garden which David Mercier won. Also in the fall of 1965, Pete White became coach at West Point after turning down a position at Annapolis. Frenchie jacques and Paul Gagne went into partnership as co-owners of a chain of drive-ins in 1964. Sister M. Cornelia, another member of the class is now the first nun for whom a large ocean liner has been named. Kenneth Moran, steamship manufacturer, got special permission from Father McCarthy to name his latest luxury liner for her. The angels were pleasedg they flapped their wings and rushed back to their individual charges whose careers needed careful attention from the heavenly messengers sent to guard them. Four years of sailing on smooth and rough waters were happy ones. FRESHMAN YEAR SECTION 1 Imagine the disappointment when the Fresh- men could not have the traditional Green Carpet Day here at St. Mary's High School. Even though the set-back was great, all survived. The Cavaliers were organized this year and very many from the Freshman Class participated. Among these were jim Tebo, Frenchie', jacques, Armand Sirois, Paul Gagne, jabber Poirier, and Kenny Patch. These boys were the original color guard. Marie Boardman was the drum major. Dot Grover was the head majorette. Another event was the December Christmas Party. An assembly was held and a play was presented. This Class has quite a few actors and actresses, even when they are not on a stage. All agree to this. SOPHOMORE YEAR SECTION 2 During this famous year in the history of many teenagers, the Sophomores put on a Freshman Reception. This was held on October 22. The Marian Club was started this year. This club dedicated itself to Our Blessed Mother. The members had plays, made scrapbooks, re- ceived membership pins, and paid ten cents dues. Kenny Patch was elected Treasurer, Gail Good- rich, Secretary, Armand Sirois, Vice-President, and Marie Boardman, President. Other activities during the year were the organization the Latin Club and Science Club, the Valentine and Novelty Dance. We had heaps of fun. JUNIOR YEAR SECTION 3 Every year gets closer to the Senior Year. This, being ourjunior Year, we had more activi- ties, more fun, and more work. Senior Prom. This was one of the biggest events of the year. We put on the biggest dance of the year. Our theme was Three Coins in a Fountain . This prom will never be equaled. The next big event was the Communion Break- fast for the Senior Class of '55. Breakfast was served for the Priests, the Seniors, and their Parents. Many of the junior girls were wait- resses and others helped in the kitchen. Sisters Delia, Noel, and Gemma were cooks, aided by Mrs. Grover and Mrs. Martineau. The Valentine Dance came in February. juniors joined the Booster Club, attended assem- blies and rallies galore. Many boys contributed to sports. Vic Potvin and Pete White were outstanding basketball players. There was a very nice Glee Club this year. The favorite song was I'll Walk with God. 34 SENIOR YEAR SECTION 4 Finally we made it. It is the Senior Year, our last year. Some will be glad that it is all over withg many are sad. After all, everyone had a wonderful time at St. Mary's. A splendid paper drive was conducted and al- most all of the Seniors participated in it. A melodious choir sang at the 9:30 Mass on Sundays and sang carols at the Midnight Mass. A driver education class has been taught every Friday by Sister Delia. All are very anxious for the Senior Prom. The Juniors are preparing for it. Rumor states that will be a very gala affair. A Valentine Dance, a Science Fair, and the Senior Play are in the olfing. Ten years from now there will be a class re- union at the Moody Hotel. All will keep in touch and at the end of the ten years the class will get together for a reminiscing session. The biggest event of the year will be the Senior Class trip to New York. Father McCarthy has the gratitude of thirty-nine grateful students for his kindness. Plans are in the making to hit all the high lights of New York City, to do a little shopping, maybe. Radio City, the Empire State Building, and other spots of interest are on the itinerary. The linal scene of the year will be the graduat- ing exercises on june tenth of 1956. The GOOD SHIP MORAN embarks on june tenth for a long, cruise of ten years. june 1966 is the date set for a bang-up class reunion. Everyone is expected to be present.
