CAREER DAY Students with Mr. Ted Stearns of Station WTSV. t Y lf-Xu' .ff'1 A GUIDANCE PROJECT An impressive assembly held in the gym opened the first formal Career Day program for St. Mary High school students. Introduced by assembly chairman, joseph Shaw, well-known local radio announcer, Professor L. S. Nara- more of Dartmouth College gave the keynote address, The Importance of Choosing a Career. Group conferences were held with authorities in the following fields: teaching, music, forestry, nursing, automobile, telephone operator, radio, engineering, and oflice work. At the conclusion of the conferences, everyone agreed that the purposes of a career day, namely, to provide students with data regarding various vocations, so that they may make an intelligent selection of a calling, to enable them to compare various occupations in cases of doubt, and to give them the opportunity of meeting leaders in a number of vocations, from whom they may obtain direct inspiration and counsel, had been admirably fulfilled. SENIOR PLAY It's time again for the biggest event of the year! We Shook the Family Tree, a three-act comedy from the popular book by Hildegarde Dolson, is in rehearsal. Sparked by sprightly lines, the play moves swiftly from one amusing situation to another. Characters include attractive Hildegarde, Theresa Rossignol, who nearly turns the town upside down when she decides she no longer wants to be a wall- Howerg Sally, Claire Girard, her younger sister who aids and abets herg Bobby, Robert Martineau, the older brother who has a passion for fishingg Jimmy, Donald Leclerc, the younger brother who invents vari- ous hilarious gadgetsg Mother and Father, Madeleine Desmarais and Earl Routhier, two parents with their hands more than full, Mr. and Mrs. Shermer, Arthur Michaud and Pauline Lewis, who practically ruin the life of their nice song Freddie, Norman Limoges, who wishes knickers had never been invented, Ellie-May, Annette Ferland, and Jill, Elaine Goyetle, two extra pretty and extra popular girls, and a mischief-making little girl named Paige, Antoinette Carreau, who even eats a tube of toothpaste. With the family tree aquiver throughout the fast- moving story, and a laughter-filled whirlwind finish, predictions are that the audience will be left chuck- ling for days. WE SHOOK THE FAMILY TREE
