in X X Remember WHY baflk to September 4. l945? many other activities. lt was a year of hard the beginning of a four-year course in higher education. But our minds were far An unforgettable dav for us all, it marked from such noble thoughts on the morn ot September 5, trial-class day. Then, it was all we could do to hunt out that unfind- able Room 303, or 205. ln the following months, as the excitement gradually toned down, we could be found amid cries of Sum, esse, fui, futurus, x equals 5, and Who's in the morning civics class? But it was all fun, and soon our first high school year had ended. After three months of sunshine, we returned to our books as experienced Sophomores. There was little time for idle musing when so many things had to be learned. Back we went to Latin, English, and Religion. This was the year of our introduction to Biology and Geometry, those interesting fields which we were sometimes certain we would never understand. As if these were not enough, we found ourselves carry- ing extra-curricular activities, such as band. chorus, and sports. The year was filled with inspiring Sodality meetings, rousing pep sessions, a quiet, reflective retreat, movies, vocation-week speakers, and so work, spiced with good fun. As Juniors, we found ourselves on a dignified pedestal, or so we thought. We seemed to like the idea of being only one step away from the lofty position of Senior. We entered fields of our choice, such as science, commercial, or language. All of this balanced with social activities, includ- ing strenuous participation at games Cre- gardless of physical positionl, and the ex- citing preparation for and enjoyment of the Junior Prom. Again, whole-hearted support and good humor lightened the work. Our Senior days ticked by quicker than we would have liked. Over us all there seemed to hover the spirit of This is the last year - let's make it good. To our regular schedule of studies came the Renard jobs and the class playg we accepted them ener- getically, realizing that it would be the last time. We worked hard, not only at books, but also, at making more permanent the friendships we had formed through four years. We stored away innumerable mem- ories for future reminiscing. Now, as grad- uation looms ahead, we must look back and admit, Yes, these were the best years of our lives. P oge 27
