Representatives of half a dozen professions spoke to the students, Miss Eileen Remmel of the Visiting Nurse association staff, told The students that nursing was anything but a romantic or glamor- ous profession, Requirements in the nursing profession are good health, pleasing personality and the ability to get along with others, the speaker said. She said that a high school education is necessary and college is desirable, A girl is wise if she chooses a large training institute and a Catholic training school is highly regarded in all respects. Mrs. Williani Way'niire, a member of the Appleton Apostolate board and a volunteer trainer for girl scouts, discussed The Modern Mother. She emphasized that all mothers need the gifts of the Holy Ghost, wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord, The absolute need for study of mathematics, physics and chemistry for those contemplating the engineering profession, was stressed by A. G. Prunuske, Neenah city engineer. He indicated that the field will be popular for years to come because of the shortage of engineers today and the need for building and reconstruction. Arnold l. Cane, Menasha iustlce of the peace and attorney, traced the development of law from early tribal times to the present and gave the students a clear idea as to what is expected of those :ontemplating law as a profession by naming the phases of study contained in a law course. loseph Fagot, personnel director at Marathon Corporation, advised as mush education as possible for those entering business. Capability and aptitude tests are being administered more and more to determine one's place in industry, the speaker said. He suggested the reading cf biography as an aid in learning the achievements of others. He also stressed that business employees should learn the names of their associates, the running of the various departments and their relationship to each other. l-le em- phasized the need for loyalty to fellow employees, supervisors and The firm.
