The Grey- hounds could not get in the tight St, Mary defense and had to rely on shots far out on the court. On the other hand the Zephyrs with their smooth ball handling, worked the ball in for numerous set-ups. The result, victory for our Zephyrs ST MARY 27 ST PETER 20 The Zephyrs won their third consecutive conference game in a home game December 13 to the tune of 27 20 As the game progressed it appeared as though the St Peter squad came to Menasha with the sole purpose of upsetting St Mary but the Keys were startled by the fast break used by the Zephyrs and although the score was close St Mary led the entire game ST MARY 27 ST IOHN 19 lourneying to Little Chute the St Mary squad defeated the Flying Dutchmen by a d6ClSlV6 score of 2719 Their fourth victory in the Catholic Conference The Dutchmen threatened the Zephyrs several tlmes but a last penod sprint gave the Zephyrs their decisive victory over therr strongest Conference rivals St Iohn of Little Chute ST LEO 32 ST MARY 28 St Leo of Chicago coming to Menasha during the Chr1st mas holidays eked out a 32 28 victory over the Zephyrs This proved to be one of the fastest and most exciting games ever played on the local floor Neither team had a sizable lead over their opponents but in the last few minutes of play a rally by the Chicagoans proved fatal for St Mary the Zephyrs bowed down in defeat to the victors the St Leo Quintet of Chicago ST MARY 21 MANITOWOC 27 The St Mary basketball team met their second defeat of the season at the hands of the strong Manltowoc quintet Height of the players and an unfamiliar floor proved to be the deciding factor of the game At the same time the Zephyrs showed a reversal in form for their passing was ragged and their shooting was off. Manitowoc led the entire game and although threatened several times by the Zephyrs, who lacked the final punch, were able to win a marginal victory over the St. Mary Zephyrs their non-con- ference rivals.
