Orpha May Sym « • LP 3 dedication We dedicate this yearbook to Or- pha May Symmonds, who has been a devoted housemother to Saint Mary ' s for eight years. She puts her heart into cleaning and keeping the school at its best. She takes pride in and shows love to us girls, who in turn, love her. Nobody I know could love me more than you, You can give me so much love it seems untrue, Listen to the bird who sings it to the tree, And then when you ' ve heard him see if you agree, Nobody I know could love you more than me. Ev ' rywhere I go the sun comes shining through, Ev ' ryone I know is sure it shines for you, Even in my dreams I look into your eyes, Suddenly it seems I ' ve found a paradise, Ev ' rywhere I go the sun comes shining through. It means so much to be a part of a heart of a Wonderful one. Orpha We Love You! Looking back ;i few short years When wo made our plans and played the cards The way they fell Clinging to our confidence We stood on the threshold of the goal That we knew dear And though we had our fights And our short-tempered nights It couldn ' t pull our dreams apart All our needs and all our wants Drawn together in our heart We felt it from the very start It ' s all happened recently Now we ' re living in that dream We had not long ago Everything is going fine And now we just have to keep in mind We must set brand new goals We must not lose control Of the possibility of the discovery That would let everybody see That we were just meant to be Alma Mater ' by CHICAGO fc. 4 10 r || directions A. The student-council sponsored projects was instituted to lift the school spirit. The seniors started off ahead in both spirit chain links and weight and finished the week winning both spirit chain events. The Student Council made a total of $120 from the week ' s activities. Spirit Week started off with a bang. Monday was bust ' em day. The halls were filled with balloons and the students popped them. The object was to bring back as many pieces as possible for the class. For every 10 pieces, the class gained a link for their spirit chain. Tuesday was crazy hat day. Each student paid 5 cents to wear a crazy hat. The object was to get the whole class to wear a crazy hat for a link. Wednesday was Lick ' em day. Candy was thrown in the halls and the object was to turn in the wrappers to your Student Council representa- tive. For every ten wrappers the class got a link. Thursday was inside-out day. Everyone wore all their clothes inside out for a link. Friday was 50 ' s day and students dressed up for the 50 ' s. Each class gained a link per student who dressed up for the day. Friday was also the day when links were totaled with the winners hav- ing their name placed on a traveling plaque. Throughout the week a weigh-in was also held. Each person paid 10 cents to weigh-in. They were allowed to have weights and other people as long as they were hidden. Starting Tuesday, every morning through Friday was a weigh-in with the prize for the most weight being free grub day for that class. Spirit Week . . . The start of endless spirit necessary for SMA to hold out. 34 A Success Are you in the mood? (cackle cackle) Fascinated on-lookers are amazed at such energetic spirit. 35 1.
