That image is of Fr. Leonard. Known by some of his better admirers as Beowulf , Father has given all of his time and help to the students he serves. From his enterprises Fr. Leonard has supplied the school with a swimming pool, new candy machines, a paved road to the dorm, and a much expanded snack bar service. Be- sides this, he has given many a senior a knowledge of English that is unequaled anywhere. We have been the stu- dents that have benefited from the 30 years of Father's work, something we should be grateful for. In time, the thoughts and memories of St. Martin's will slip away, but the one person who will be remembered is Fr. Leonard. g 'R Elm ai I' in ,gf1T 'HY-. 5 I I 1 ' rex ... 1 '15 U I , .f . Russell 1427 runs back a kick against Odea. The Odea players wer unsuccesiill in the their frantic attempts to stop him. A year of broken records, tells the whole story about the 1969 team's offense. Coach Gene Yerabek constructed a backfield with such stand- outs as Paul Fife, Jeff Abram, Pat Molohon, Tom Galloway, and Tom White. This unit has to be one of the best the Rangers have ever had. Some of the many new offensive records include, total offense, 3118 yds., total points, 215g total yards in one game, 498. The team with these records lead the League in all offensive departments this year. A great deal of credit for the new records goes to the offensive lineman, the men who work to prepare the way for the ball carriers. When the offense wasn't grinding out yardage, the defense was in the game keeping the oppo- nents from entering our end zone. Jeff Goss, is finally stopped after a lengthly kickoff runback. Much of the offensive success of the '69 Football team rests on the shoulders of senior half- back Paul Fife. Fife's out- standing job of running kept the Rangers in many games. His fantastic job of running set many individual records, such as: total points, l36g 2nd in the stateg total yds. rushing 2045, a new state record. Because of his performance he received Honorable Mention for All State Team, and was voted lst. Team All Conference. For years to come it will be a goal for many Rangers to break Paul Fife's many records. Pasquan mmmmg W.: ffiadafxl-5 pu As the editor of this 1970 SAMAHI, I have tried to plan this book so that we could include as much of this school year as possible. lt is impossible to capture all the thoughts and feelings of a school year in a book, but we have tried to- accomplish just that task. This year was started in a new spirit of excellence. In this annual we have tried to portray Saint lVlartin's outstanding exploits in all fields: academic, athletic, and social. In the name of the yearbook staff I would like to thank all those people who made this SAMAHI possible. Especially Bill Sexton whose help was invaluable: Father Cletus Bradley, our advisorg Ken Werner, American Yearbook Representative 9 and Allen Carter, Carter Studio.
