On defense. he was particularly outstanding. spoiling the opponents plays before they had time to get them underway. Art will be missed greatly on next year's eleven. RAY SCHlVlAl-Z. Halfbaek. Showing up as one of the outstanding back' Held men in early season. Ray had the misfortune of arousing the anger of Old Man lnjury. He starred in the opening game. and it was a great loss to the team when Ray had to retire with a broken ankle. ROY BliNffl5lljl.. Guard. l.ongview's gift to St. Martins this hard charging lineman was a bulwark of strength in the middle of the Ranger line. Romping Roy entered school after the first game and immediately obtained a spot on the starting eleven. Only a Junior this year. great things are expected of him next year. TOM ITAHILRTY, liullhack. This Freshman fireball, following in the footsteps of his famous All-American father. fought his way to the first eleven and there he stayed. Tom's passing became feared by all the opposing bacl-.nelds unfortunate enough to come in Contact with his tosses. lflaherty was also a terror on defense, backing up the line like a veteran. l3Hll. DGNVNTQY, Guard. Following in the footsteps of a famous brother. Phil. a lireshman. took over the guard position in mid-season and stood at that position for the remainder of the season. By the end of the season. he was the. most improved player on the team. lDrlk'lf SVv'lQl1NlQY. Quarter. Although a .lunior this year. Dave had much chance to show that he is a Grst class signal caller. His fire and determination was a source of inspiration to the rest of the squad. and his passes were always a threat when he was in the lineup. Cil1ORQil1 CASIQY. Tackle. Another victim of injuries. This three year letterman could be relied on to hold up his side of the line against any opposition. TOM OLERADY. Tackle. A backheld man on last year's squad. Tom was Klil' shifted to the line and took to it likc,a duck takes to water. A senior. O'Grady was one of the mainstays ol the Ranger forward wall. Besides being outstanding offensively.
