...cl HEADMASTER'S MESSAGE A good school is avital, living community made up of a variety of ingredients. First of all it is people - students, faculty and staff. It is a profusion of experiences and activities typified by the ever present assignments and examinationsg the football games and bus trips: the social activities and alas, the discipline committee. It is the campus with its class- rooms, labs, library, and facing the north wind on the way to the gym. Underlying all of these is this thing called - school spirit - which St. Martin's students have in abundance. All of these have been captured most l eloquently in this 1969 volume of The SHIELD. To Mrs. Horace Vallas, the faculty sponsor, to Miss Lee Edwards, the editor-in-chief, and all the members of her staff, we express a grateful well done. Ellsworth O.
