The Senior class got right to work, it chose Ann Landry as Editor-in-chief of the i953 Victoria, which is dedicated to the foundresses of the Millinocket convent. They also proudly dis- played their colors: maroon and ivory. 5- The St. Thomas Aquinas Study Circle convened to meet the green freshmen and other new faces. We elected all male officials for a change. After this strenuous business a social was suggested, moved, and unanimously agreed upon. 9- More electionsl This time for the Knights of Our Lady and in utmost secrecy. Nevertheless, they were proud to present Buddy Jacobs as Supreme Knight, Glen Tardy as assistant, Llewellyn Baron Secretary, and Harold Sawyer as Treasurer. The Senior Class held its first meeting with Father Quinn as guest of honor. There were many different opinions on what would be our motto. After much deliberation, QUOD SURSUM VOLO VlDERE was final victor. TO- Together for the first social event ofthe year. We do have a great time at those parties. 'l2- That dazzling light isn't the sunl The Juniors iust received their class rings which shone almost as brightly as their faces. l6- Tile workers arrived today. St. Martin's High is about to have glistening floors laid. 'l7- The Freshmen displayed dramatic talent when they presented us with a skit entitled 'Happy Birth- day, Constitutionn. Secause ofthe excellent per- formance, we were relieved oi homework that day. 22- Something new has been cddedt cheerleaders. We iust hope that Ann Landry, captain, Betty Thibodeau, Shirlene Laplante, Gloria Friel, and Mary Jean Yeo will ignite the fuse for explosive yells at basketball games. 26- Time marches on! lt's been 'l5 years since the Sisters ot the Holy Rosary carne to Millinocket. We celebrated the day with morning mass and en- ioyed a free afternoon from school. OCTOBER 3- First open forum. Joyce McKinnon, the new leader, proved her worth by keeping the students alert. 9- Senior Mothers' food sale was a tremendous success. lt only goes to show that we have many benefactors. 'l6- The first work for the '53 Victoria goes to press! We'll slowly whittle down that stack of work. 22- At the social, Father L'Heureux showed movies about our pioneers in their first days of school. Those baby faces are puzzling to match to the people we now see. Bl- Watch the birdie, Seniorsl This is that once-in life-time thrill! 1952-5 NOVEMBER 13- Ouchl What a beginningl Basketball gets a 50 to 71 Slaughter by Schenck's varsity in St. Martin's first game. 17- Our basketball players were more evenly matched at Oakfield, but we ended behind again. 21- Our Senior fund is swelling. The card party netted about 5165. Thank you, people- 25- Vie're iinxedl We were sacrificed to and at lsland Falls-- 75 to 37. 27- Thanksgiving recess. We have loads to be thankful for, so it takes us 4 days to think of it. Who's griping? DECEMBER 9- A Maryknall father, Rev. Dominic Morisette, showed some movies and gave us a talk about the need of missionaries in foreign lands. He also taught us to twist our tongues around a few Spanish phrases. 12- Lady Luck is with us. Medway bowed to our 36-point lead. 17- Today marks the 48th anniversary of our be- loved pastor's service in the Holy priesthood. 19- Phewl Medway was skunked on the home floor. lt's good for our ego. Eyes are sparkling in antic- ipation of two glorious holiday weeks coming. 29- Seems like old times with familiar faces back for a visit at the Alumni social. Seniors were pre- sented with autograph books by the Faculty. Thank you, Teachers. JANUARY 5- We greet the second semester with new resolu- tions. 7- Forgot our A-leaf clover when we went to LaGrange. Defeated by 53 to 46. 13- Group pictures taken. We chose King and Queen of '53 as Llewellyn Baron and Joyce Mc- Kinnon. 16- A tight squeeze but Wytopitlock came in on tap. That basketball is getting us down! 21- Generous parishioners donated time and work to improve our gym. Thank you again. 25- The Senior Play was a great dramatic success. We scored 143 laughs. 27- Heavens! what a gamel Nip and tuck all the way but Oaktield topped us by one basket. 29- Consolationg we don't lose by big margins now. Schenck's score was only 10 points more. Finished mid-years. Maybe Eisenhower will remedy this torture. FEBRUARY 2- Announced the honor parts: Ann Landry, Valedictorianp Charlene Ouellette, Salutatoriang with Joyce McKinnon, Margaret Andrick, and Shirlene Laplante as honor essayists. Also a cage victory over Schenck JV's. 20- First try at a tournament. Our boys didn't bring home any prize, but considering the odds they did fine. MARCH 3- The last finished pages of the Victoria were carefully wrapped and mailed to the printers. That was a iob! 4- No sooner do we finish one task but another arises. Commencement activities have to be com- posed and learnt. 26- sophomores are dazed by the assortment of class rings, Choosing from such a variety like that is tough. APRIL 1- A break in the routine. Easter vacation gives us this welcome interruption. 8- Everybody's abounding activity at this social has been collected during this past penitential season. MAY 6- The King and Queen of '53 were formally crowned tonight at the Coronation Party. The royalty and regalness of the sovereigns and of their attendants was very fitting. 14- The Sodality now has new officers. The Juniors were elected to these positions today. lt's a strange grown-up feeling when they think of how close to Seniors they are. JUNE 7- The only funny part of graduation: Class Night! lt's a pleasant relief to laugh at these nonsensical stunts. 14- Baccalaureate at the 8 o'clock Mass. Following this the Senior Banquet was served. ln the evening: GRADUATlON. The grand finale yet iust a beginning The Seniors no longer stand as a class, but as individuals. 15- Off to Canada: St. Ann de Beaupre, the miracle worker.
