I, Kay Alexander, will my Chemistry experience to Ruby Herboldt in hope that she does a better job than I did. 1 9 X ' rr enior Class Hi tory ln September of 1947, the population of S.M,l-l,S, was increased by 72 as the excited little frosh began their first year of high school. Joanne Seamanwas their PresidentgJeanSanguinet, Vice- Presidentg Marjorie Johnston, Secretary and Dolores Foster, Treasurer. Dolores Foster was also chosen Sweetheart of the class. Initiation proved to bc quite strenuousg during the ordeal they had to sandpaper the Sacred Cow. A party was given for the Seniors and they also sponsored a movie. To lead them through their Sophomore year they chose DonReidhaar, Presidentg Ixlerilyn Papenfuhs, Vice-Presidenrg Jim Emerson, Secretary and Dolores Foster, Treasurer. Bernadine Williams was chosen Sweetheart of this class. The Junior year found the leaders to be Jim Emerson, Pres- identg Dolores Foster, Vice-President: Merilyn Papenfuhs, Secretary and Sam Jacot, Treasurer. Merilyn Papenfuhs was elected Sweetheart of the class. Ten girls were admitted into the Pep Club. The class play, Handy Man, was presented very successfully. They also sponsored the Junior Prom and Junior-Senior Banquet. As high and mighty Seniors on the last lap of their journey, Dolores Foster was elected class President: SamJacot, Vice- Presidentg Bernadine Williams, Secretary and Betty Devoe Treasurer. Mr. Frazier was chosen as Senior class advisor. They sponsored the TinselBall on December 9, and pre- sented their cla ss play in March. The mighty seniors are look- ing forward to Sneak Day, Graduation, anda bright and hap- py future. enior Prophet As we travel through space in our pill- powered atomic Ford H-Bomb, with big wheels and little wings, we find the grad- uating class of 1951, some scattered to the far corners of the earth. fThey were able to find corners, having always believed the earth was square.j They are struggling with the other masseis -- or messes ? -- of the world through the ripe ole year of 1961. The tall ones are still taller, wise ones still wiser, fat ones still fatter, dumb ones still. . . but letus bring to light the progress this class has made. When Uncle Sam started drafting girls into service, we find that Dolores Foster, Bernadine Williams and Kay Alexander joined the ranks of the Cadet Nurses. They always were birds - nightingales, now. Taking care of all the handsome men running free, Betty Elmes and Margie Johnston are still in the Marines and doing well as captains, no less. We got a line by the vine on Betty Devoe and Speck Papenfuhs. They're the mainstay of the TreasuryDepartment's Secret Ser- vice. They didn't listen to Gangbuster's for nothing. They are traveling and meet- ing some of the most interesting counter- feiters, swindlers and unsavory char- acters you ever saw on post office walls. Betty Horine and Betty Sines became taxi dancers in a New Yorknight club. Life is nothing but glitter and excitement along Broadway's big White Way. Glenna Cardwell joined the staff of telephone operators in Spokane, Washing- ton. She's known to the higher -ups in the company as G. C. Pat Torchie, Joanne Seaman and Jessie Roan became roller derby girls. They're known as the Two Speeds and Reverse. They expanded rapidly and now own a line of skating rinks throughout the U. S. Marjean Smith, Agnes Johnson, Betty Pease and Alma Qualls signed their name to marriage licenses. They're spending time brooding--over hot stoves and hash. Laura McC1arin and Betty Brown be- came soda jerks in the Handy Corner. They soonexpect to pass the trial period and be- gin earning wages. Well, what do you ex- pect in ten years ? Rilla Berry is teaching the A,B,C's and pitcher drawin ' to the kiddies in P.U. 41. These boys waited until the women and children went first, but their call came, too. Sam Jacot joined the Navy so he could have a girl in every port. Jim Emerson joined the fly boys in the air force. His tallness makes him right at home up in the air. Don Reidhaar became professor of art at the University of Idaho. He makes year- ly trips to the continent pursuing his in- terests. Ronnie Ebert stayed near home in the tall timber to take a job driving the Fern- wood bus. Hitting bumps or standing at the wheel is still the only way he can see over the windshield. Don Brock and Gene Bergman are fighting their country's battle on land and sea in the Marines. Now they're holding down the front line fone on each end. J Delmar Odegaard became a famous cook. You have undoubtedly heard of his new book on the subject, Fowl Cooking. Eddie Mellon and Mickey Thomas are running a theater now. Eddie's on the managing end and Mickey is ushing. Dusty Wight and Bob Werdell are both farmers. They owned a large skunk ranch in the center of Couer d' Alene, Idaho but they put up a stink and forced the boys out of business. fThe local citizenry. I Paul Bedreau, who firstfound success on a morning radio program is the idol of bobby-soxers all over the United States. His talent on the piano brought him fame at home and abroad. There it is--the Senior Class of '51-- hale, hearty and happy. Now we shall drop an atom pill in our H-Bomb and return from this dimension in time to earth and the pre - sent day. Plunk.
