Sl l0R CIASS WITH A RECORD ENROLLMENT OF SEVENTY-ONE STUDENTS, THE FRESHMAN CLASS OF l9U6 STARTED THEIR EDUCATION AT S.M.H.S. PATSY DIMICO WAS THEIR PRESIDENTQ DON APPER- SON, VICEPRESIDENTQ ALYNE GARDINER, SECRETARYL AND SHIRLEY JONES, TREASURER. THE INITIATION, WHICH HAD BEEN ANTICIPATED AND FEARED, CAME lN NOVEMBER OF THAT YEAR. IT WAS HIGHLIGHTED BY AN ASSEMBLY WHICH PROVED ENTERTAINING FOR ALL CLASSES. To KEEP IN PRACTICE WITH AN OLD CUSTOM, THIS CLASS GAVE THE SENIORS A PARTY AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. AS SOPHOMORES, THEY CHOSE DON TAISEY AS PRESIDENTQ STANLEY RANDALL AS VICE PRESIDENTQ ANO SHIRLEY JONES AS SECRETARY-TREASURER. THEY BEGAN THEIR SCHOOL ACTIVITIES BY SPON- SORING A MOVIE AND A DANCE. SHIRLEY JONES WAS CHOSEN AS THEIR CLASS SWEETHEART. TO LEAD THEM THROUGH THEIR THIRD AND MOST SOCIAL YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL, THEY CHOSE HOWARD WETZEL AS PRESIDENT. ROY ALDERMAN WAS VICE PRES- IDENTQ RUTH PAPENFUHS, SECRETARYg AND LYLA ARRHENIUS, TREASURER. VERA HORINE WAS ELECTED SWEETHEART OF THE CLASS. N ,E XC! HISIUHY MUSICAL TALENT OF SOME OF THE CLASS MEMBERS PROVED VERY BENEFICIAL TO SCHOOL ENTERTAINMENT. TEN GIRLS FROM THE CLASS WERE ADMITTED INTO THE PEP CLUB. THEY PRESENTED THE CLASS PLAY, DONIT TARE MY PENNYH. THEY SPONSORED MOVIES AND DANCES TO HELP FINANCE THE CLASS EVENTS. THE JUNIOR PROM AND THE JUNIOR-SENIOR BAN- QUET, WHICH WERE SPONSORED BY THIS CLASS, WERE VERY SUCCESSFUL. NOW, AT LAST THEY HAVE BECOME HIGH AND MIGHTY SENIORS. RUTH PAPENFUHS RECEIVED THE HONORABLE BECAME POSITION OF PRESIDENT. CAROLE LAVIGNE VICE PRESIDENT. BOB MOE WAS CHOSEN SECRETARY AND DON APPERSON, TREASURER. THE CLASS ADVISORS WERE MR. HAROLD THIAS AND MR. SYLVAN SEVERTSEN. THEY SPONSORED THE HOLLY HOP, AN ANNUAL CHRISTMAS DANCE. ALYNE GARDINER AND HAROLD JOHNSON WERE ELECTED SNOW KING AND QUEEN. HHOBGOBLIN HOUSEH WAS CHOSEN AS THEIR PLAY. WITH FOUR SUCCESSFUL AND ENJOYABLE YEARS or HIGH SCHOOL BEHIND THEM, THE GRADUATING SENIORS OF l95O EAGERLY LOOK FORWARD TO SNEAK DAY, BACCALAUREATE, GRADUATION AND A PROFITABLE FUTURE.
