MY SHADOW I see it walk along the street, Long, slim and dark before my feet, It meets and mingles passing you, And listless shadows we come to. My shadow follows me all day, At work, at rest, at school and play, As the sun leaves the sky at night, My shadow disappears from sight. This brings to mind the thought of souls Who at the Lord's will fade away, Having attained their lifelong goals, Join angels, in celestial play. Jeannine Duquette '58 SEASONS As spring arrives, the flowers bloom And fill the air with sweet perfume. Then summer comes with its warm sun Which is just fine for good clean fun. Then all at once, we find it's fall The time for boys to play football. And then with winter comes the snow, The season children love, we know. Irene Collins '58 ON THE SUNNYSIDE There are days of sadness, But then there follows light, You often see madness, But love is next in sight. And one day there is pain Next a disappointment, But the sun follows rain And that's life's sweet moment. Every day of sorrow just makes our life more grand. These days will only show The art to understand. Irene Riel '58 THE BLUES Whenever you are feeling blue And wish you had something to do Then go back to your younger days And you'll find many different ways To pass the time away. Perhaps you'll find your old stamp book With all its dust and wornout look, But pick it up and look inside And soon you'll find your blues have died. Priscille Desilets '57 A PLACE TO REST I know a glen in yonder wood Where tired souls repose. And beauty there for years has stood This is the place I, chose. When cares depress and overwhelm My tired mind and will I come to rest beneath the elm, My soul with peace, to fill. I think that God created these, The sylvan hideaways, That man may have in life's rough seas His share of sheltered days. Dolores Gosselin '58 M. Vabbe Louis G. Of our senior class memories, our trip to the Precious Blood Monastery will be the most cherished. That day presented us with a unique experience. To many the occa- sion marked a day of spiritual renewal. Young hearts were opened to the light of Divine Love and Providence. The amazed look upon our faces revealed our ignorance of the happiness that could exist in this house of reparation. Little had we realized that supernatural joy could be found to such a degree, in our modern war-torn world. ,Zh-ea! 01' 3, Wg' , wa - . . - luzl , 2, M'-, Father Luke, o.f.m., our retreat fm! CHARACTERS: Almighty God and the Guardian Angel of the Class of 1957. GOD: Twenty years have elapsed since the memorable graduation day of the dignihed and outstanding Class of 1957. It was your duty to watch over and protect the 54 students of that class. Now is the time for you to make your report. ANGEL: Dearest Lord, I have recently returned from a tour of the Planet Earth and I am now able to present an account of the present status of my desig- nated subjects. I alighted on the front steps of St. Marie High School, the newly constructed atomic radar-controlled, termite-proof, one-room shack, designed by the scien- tifically-minded, Miss Einsteiniau, the former GERMAINE PELLERIN. She dedicated this masterpiece to Sister VVilhemina, P.M. QGERMAINE SPENARDQ, now acting Principal of SMHS. ELAINE HAMEL, a lay polyglot teacher of the school accompanied me to the Notre Dame Medical Center where I spied DORIS PAQUIN, newly-appointed head technician of the mentally-retarded Tuti-Fruities taking a blood count on Mrs. George Perron, the former LUCILLE CHALIFOUR, who is one of her regular patients. Miss PHYLLIS LAPLANTE, the world renowned pediatrician assisted by SIMONE GAGNE, R.N., recipient of the N. H. Nurse of the Year Award, was in the next room busy inoculating some over-excabooviated first-grader. She has discovered a serum capable of inducing children to think! QA feat never before performedj Miss Hamel fshe's sweetj, then introduced me to LILLIAN ALLARD who was rushing to meet a friend employed at the Telephone Company. She gave me a ride in her mint-green auto-plane and we scooted across Elmdale Avenue, to greet Miss CECILE MARTEL fstill available, menlj who, with -IEANNE GAGNE are presently Supervisors and top brass at the Bell Telephone Co. They informed me that Mrs. Roger Comire fPAULINE MONDORQ had just called by wireless telephone to invite them to her suite at the Sheraton Plaza, NYC. I slipped into .Ieanne's suitcase and the next thing I knew, I was floating down Broadway, where my gaze caught the following theatre marquee: A new musical, 'Queen City Notes', starring singer PAULINE ROBIDOUX, and dra- matic star, KIULIETTE GILBERT, introducing that new ballet star, PAULINE PLOURDE. Director-CONRAD GOURDEI' In the crowd of Times Square, I bumped into NORMAND HEBERT who was rushing to keep an appointment with MAURICE LACERTE, both in the aircraft business. After I regained my senses, I took a walk down 5th Avenue where I spied PAULINE SULLIVAN riding in Norm's 1977 Shrumaker con- vertible. In the back seat were three darling child prodigies! Also on 5th Ave., this shingle caught my eye: ELAINE CARBONNEAU-Dental Hygienist. I stopped to visit Elaine in her luxurious office, fl almost got lost in her plush carpetslj After a few hectic days in the big city I was mighty tired and went for a stroll in Lincoln Park. I tuned in my new portable TV and heard two special news bulletins: PAUL MARTINEAU, world-known geoligist, today discovered a new dinosaur egg believed to be 300 million years old. ARTHUR SPEED BEAUDET has captured the 1977 Indianapolis Speedway's 500 trophy, setting a new record of 410 m.p.h. QStick to four wheels, Speed . , After the inter- esting news broadcast, I watched Channel NUTT. ROBERT LEVASSEUR with his sweet voice is program director of the Ladies' Gossip Hour . His special guests were PAULINE CROTEAU and RAYMOND TROTTIER, the country's foremost orators who each received a beautiful golden cup at the annual meeting of the Chitter-Chatter group. I continued my promenade through the park and spotted a group of ladies talking over old times. They were SIMONNE LEFEBVRE, LUCILLE ST. CYR, RITA LACHANCE, and LUCILLE BOURNIVAL.
