It makes Aus feel as though we are real engineers and observers enjoyingthe scenes from the rear car. You needn't think this was the only trip we took this year. We ve been even abroad with the Queen Mary We almost forgot about our air trips. They have conquered, as our bold Hungarian soldiers launched their cavalcade towards the north of beautiful Hungary and claimed what rightfully belonged to them. Daily the radios send a tremor of resounding clashes of an unbe- coming war, but thanks be to God so far so good. Daily we follow- ed the current events and in imagination took part in the confer- ences held at Munich. We listened attentively to the words of our late Holy Father, Pius XI, pleading for peace.' First of all, it was Germany who took its possessions peacefully, all of us heaved a sigh of relief, and another of sadness as we watched a young na- tion reluctantly handing over the portion received just a little over twenty years ago. ' Czechs and Hungarians battle over border. The radio booms forthli Flashes and news screen! The newsboys scream! Our current events were busily scanned. Open and violent warfare on a small scale a- long the border between Hungary and Czechoslovakia. The fighting which took more than forty people on both sides, was over the bor- der which separates Hungary from that part of Csechoslovakia.known as Carpatho-Ukraine. We were busy with our maps, tracing and all that was necessary to study the demanded sections. Success! Hungary receives her portion back to her warm mother land. Beautiful strains of Hungarian marches and rapsodies filled the home- sick hearts with rejoicing and jubliee to think that once the beauti- ful accents of their mother-tongue is lipsed by the many thousands. We, American born children, do not understand the meaning of this hilarious rejoicing. But leaking into the twinkling eyes of our dear folks here in America, we could read volumesand volumes of what it means for them. r f . BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA Troop 124 - St. Margaret's Parish The history of St. Margaret's Boy Scouts of Troop 124 dates back to the year 1934. A survey was made by Mr. Louis Virag, the present Scoutmaster. A large number of boys were enrolling in the Scout Troops belonging to Protestant Churches in the neighborhood. This situation must be remedied. With the assistance of Rt. Reverend Monsignor Koller many of' these difficulties were cleared. St. Margaret's Conference of the St. Vincent De Paul Societyoffered to sponsor the troop. Application for, the Charter was immediately secured. The work for character building was begun in earnest and during this short period oftime our boys have attained the require- ments as tenderfoot Scouts. The climaxof this work was reached at the fifth Anniversary of Troop 124, on May 9th, when our parish witnessed the Solemn Investiture Ceremony. Rt. Reverend Monsignor Koller officiatingat this ceremony brought to light the important elements of the Scout Movement, its aims and their service to God and community. Rt. Rev. Msgr. Koller .... Owing to the general circumstances our sports recordis not,as elabor- I ate as the records of our predecessors. In spite of all the hardshipsour team measured its ability with their opponents quite vigorously. In football, we were able to show our skill with one game, i. e. with St. Emeric's of the West Side. Our basketball team was made up of two units. Each team did its best to win, but with little success. Hoping we could have better results next yearg we not only hope but promise to havea thrilling aspect for the coming school year. BASEBALL - How everybody thrills at the very name. We organized our team quite late, but could still record two exciting games. During the summer we will get an exact record for our class '4O. john Takacs '40 Robert Maver '40 X' '.
