PM- To ARCHBISHOP WILLIAM O. BRADY, the seniors of the fiftieth graduating class of St. Margaret's Academy dedicate this, their golden anniversary DAYESYE in commemoration of his recent appointment as spiritual leader of the Archdiocese of St. Paul. In 1907, one of his predecessors, the MOST REVEREND ARCHBISHOP JOHN IRELAND, saw the founding of our school. And now, in this year of 1957, as ARCHBISHOP BRADY begins the work of his office, an important milestone has been reached by St. Margaret's. For half a century she has striven to uphold the ideals of young Catholic womanhood by teaching the principles of religion and their practical application to daily living. For fifty years she has striven to send her students out to take their places in society as informed and steadfast Catholics. 2

Main was purchased from the Archdiocese of St. Paul by the Sisters of St. Joseph, along with the other two buildings on the estate, and became St. Margaret's Academy in 1907. A miracle of hard work and ingenuity went into its transformation from an elegant home, rich with handsome, carved woodwork, a graceful central staircase, tapestried walls, tiled fireplaces and a high-ceilinged, beamed ballroom on the top floor which could be reached by an olevator! The student body found, in the homey atmosphere of Main, offices, library, chapel, cafeteria, classrooms and reception rooms. An era had begun for St. Margaret's Academyl PH
