—► 13 TH. STREET 0 1947 SUXUJb PUBLISHED BY THE SENIOR CLASS OF ST. MARGARET'S ACADEMY MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA SAINT JOSEPH Page Two DEDICATION To St. Joseph, foster-father of Christ and guardian of the work of youth, we dedicate 1947 DAYESYE, for the making of this book and the living of this year have been the work of his Foster-Son in us. GUARDIAN OF THE WORK OF YOUTH Page Three MAIN IN MAYTIME Page Four But for to look upon the Doyesye That wel by reson men hit calle may The doyesye or elles the Eye of Day. Geoffrey Chaucer Chaucer defines the doyesye as the eye of day. For us, too, the DAYESYE pictures daily life at St. Margaret's, but it brings into view more than that. In the light of Catholic truth it looks deeper into our so-called ordinary school routine and shows it to be the means here and now of our growing in the Christ-Life. It sees everything we do as important, as worth remembering. It considers everything from small things like comma rules, twilight hops, and six-cent cokes to big things like mission activities, annual retreats, and religion classes as caught up into a sacramental role and as charged with the power to make us stronger Christians. Sometimes we forget the full meaning of the prayer, work, and play which make up each day at St. Margaret's. We hope the 1947 DAYESYE will mirror the whole picture in a way we'll not forget, for we think it worth remembering that beneath the precious memory of our year as Marguerites lies the glorious reality of growth in Divine Life.
