In Dedication We, the Senior Class of Saint Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing, proudly dedicate the 1966 ‘‘In Tenebris Lux’’ to Miss Carol Diller, Associate Director of the School of Nursing, Miss Diller has helped to bring an appropriate and inspiring beginning and end to our nursing education through her teaching of Fundamental and Professional Adjustments in Nursing. By the sharing of our sadnesses, our joys, our anxieties, our fears...we have become endeared to this administrator and have seen Miss Diller as teacher, as friend, as helpmate. To Carol Diller we dedicate this 1966 yearbook with love and respect for truly bringing us ‘‘from darkness into light.

In Tenebres Lux: Darkness Into Light Once a woman passed through halls steeped with death, made dark by night Her symbol was a small lamp's glow And for a thousand tortured souls She turned the darkness into light One rose was mine, was in my hand My heart was beating loud with fright The world, my aims were altered now My goal became maturity; Could I turn darkness into light? One year had passed, two roses now Were mine, and mine a cap of white Within my heart, there glowed a pride Known only to a student nurse, Could I turn darkness into light? Three roses, now, replaced three years, A pin of gold made dreams gleam bright And though I smiled, my tears showed through I'd made my hope reality Could I tum darkness into light? I am but one, with hands but two, I can not change the large world' s plight Yet there are many little ways, The least of which is just a smile I could turn the darkness into light, by Lynda Newell
