A graduate of Amherst College and Babson Insti- tute, Mr. Arter performs the top administrative func- tions of the hospital concerning the activities and policy matters involving the Board of Trustees. MR, CHARLES K, ARTER, JR, Holding the position of superintendent of the hos- pital is Mr. Kenneth Shoos. A graduate of Adelbert College and Western Reserve University, his respon- sibilities include maintenance of hospital policies and methods. In addition, he plays an active part in national, state, and local hospital activities. MR. JAMES STARTZMAN MR, KENNETH SHOOS Assistant superintendent since 1954, Mr. James Startzman lends an important helping hand to the superintendent. He is a graduate of Western Reserve University, and received his Master's Degree in Hos- pital Administration from the University of Minneso- ta. 59 Nursing Administration Keeping things running smoothly in the St. Luke's nursing realm is the duty of Miss Carol Randall, Di- rector of Nursing. She heads both the Nursing Serv- ice and the School of Nursing. Miss Randall, a St. Luke's graduate, received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Baldwin- Wallace College and her Master of Science in Nurs- ing degree from Western Reserve University. MISS CAROL RANDALL Associate Director of the School of Nursing is Miss Carol Diller, Among her many duties are planning the curriculum, assigning rotations, keeping records of our grades and sending them home to our parents. A St. Luke's graduate, Miss Diller received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Bluffton College and her Master of Science in Education degree from IIli- nois State University. In addition, she has done post-graduate work at Western Reserve University. MISS ANN O'CONNOR MISS CAROL DILLER Staffing the Nursing Service Department is one of the many duties of Miss Ann O'Connor, Associate Director of Nursing Service. Her time is spent inter- viewing nursing personnel, arranging time schedules and guiding the activities of Nursing Service.
