This familiar phrase holds many meanings for the members of our class. It means that we have reached the half-way mark. This transition began abruptly last September with the beginning of Special Ser- vices, the adjustment of working 'shift duty', and being in charge of a floor for the first time. As Juniors, we experience different aspects of nursing--each one presenting a dif- ferent challenge. Our foggy concepts begin to give way to a better understanding of the old 'theory to practice' relationship. It is an exciting year of new experiences, responsibilities and maturity. As our Junior year draws to a close, we can reflect on its worth in bringing us one step closer to our goals as R.N. s. Q ..-...Q , X TNA nder ' 9 ,Q f 'V 'I Z M, Y 'e wwswi Q' 'X N sk, K KN Ah. Through a satisfaction from the knowledge we acquired in the sense of achievement we gained from doing for othersg and by the lasting friendships we madeg we came to know nursing as a profession. Our numbered probie days were a real trial, and they are just the beginning of a difficult three ye ars, but they are also the ones probably best remembered by the registered nurse who took her train- ing at St. Luke's. 6, U it Y' r P fr -4, , , ,, ,,,, ,, ,.4'-f1:j-:Eff-:f'ffQQ,:41 i1'J,Q-:i1:::i'g,' 1'j2f,-f:ZfE??i,i . , U , , 4 M , .Wm V dm, I -f, rf 1- 5, r j AM. rr. Q A7 XXX 1 sv ,g T wx 9 V gzip T X2 s 1 sr X T .ikz ' March 6, 1964, was Capping day for sixty- nine student nurses. Haden Hall of Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral was filled to over-capacity by people anxious to watch Their girl receive her nurse's cap. The Bells of St. Mary's, Holy Art Thou, and This is My Country, set the mood for the solemn services. Dr. Philip Byers addressed the class after which Miss Stickels and Miss Hyatt presented our caps. Misses Gail Moxley and Mary Humeston received awards for having the highest and second highest grade averages during the first six months. Looking at our parents and friends we could see that they were truly proud of us as nurses and admiration for us was evident in the words of every- one. To us capping was more than just a milestone, marking the way to things more difficult. It was an inspiration to continue making people proud of us and to find a place in a work so close to God. ,,.,, - 2 S N Y- - - - -f,Y 14. - . 4,-.M , - -,,..,,-,,-4., .5 , The Probie's Moment of G Initiation low Bottoms Up For Our Encore What do you say we use black?
