Ann received the title of, Miss Student Nurse of St. Luke's Hospital with her winning talk Are we Responsible? and Betty received the Alumni award for the outstanding senior girl at the Alumni Senior Banquet. Marcia Clock and Frances Bauer were honored at graduation, Marcia received the Smiley Cup and Frances the Leslie D. Reid Cup. The Smiley Cup is presented to the graduating senior with the most potentialities in nursing. The Leslie D. Reid Cup is a scholarship award for having the highest grade average for the three years. Standing left to right are: Ruth Schubert, Associate Director, Nursing Education, Marcia Clock, Frances Bauer, and M. Jeanne Stickels, Director of Nursing. ll Frances Bauer, Senior, and Veta Hamblen, Junior, received the cash awards for the high- est Grade average for the year 1958-59, at Convocation, Sept. 12, 1959. Miss Stickels presented the awards. Scholarship awards were presented to Eloise Webb and Carol Deckinger at capping exercises. Eloise received a cape and Carol a white sweater. p ti ' Y ..

Marcia Angel is still the perfect picture of health, although she won't admit it, and is now the student health director at her old alma mater. Bonnie Smith is still working hard at the hospitalg seems Jim decided a Master's degree wasnt enough and is busy studying for that Ph. D. Pat Garrett and Judy Hill have set up a first aide station at Victor Inn in the Ozarks. They must have a thriving business too as they have their own thirty-five foot Cris-Craft now. We were unable to find out what Carol Burch was doing. We asked her but she couldn't remember. We find Betty Ann Ragan in Turkey doctoring a stiff neck, which is permanently turned toward the East. Think she needs a psychiatrist? Linda Follet is pretty busy roping cattle on her Colorado ranch. Like Linda always said, lf you want something done, do it yourself. Martha Christison received a gold record for selling over a million copies of her new record, Oh! Johnny, Oh! Every one says she really sings it with emotion. LoueneSmith finally married that neuro-surgeon. She is just now recovering from her last craniotomy. Practice makes perfect, you know. Nancy King is busy looking for a husband who can cook and sew. She's still trying to pass that home economics course she started ten years ago. Nan Cannon has organized her own lending library, people can't find the best sellers though, for all the copies of Modern Bride and Simplicity pattern books. Merla Boo uTFWarking altogether. This way she doesn't have to call in sick all the time. Marcia Clock is now orthopedic supervisor. She can be seen following Dr. Adlhock down the hall most any time of day. Naomi Collins is a medical missionary in darkest Africa. We hear she's really an expert on tribal rain dancing. Uncle Alvin has finally willed his store in Garden City to Mona Gatz. It's about time, she brought most of it back to the dorm with her when she was in training, anyway. Margaret Schmidt is a flight nurse in the Air Force now. Her uniform doesnt fit as well as it should though. She refuses to take off that parachute. What's wrong Marg- no confidence? Linda Darnold has given up nursing for the opera. Seems as though a talent scout heard her singing in the shower and signed her up. We're wondering where you were taking that shower Linda? Marjorie Huscher and Bob and Liz Felten and Joe can be seen quite often walking down the street follow- ed by a flock of junior birdmen. Guess the Air Force hands out phamplets on that too. Connie Reekes has finally married that preacher she was looking for. Shels going to preach the sermon this Sunday on Alcoholism . How about it, Connie are you pro or con? Tomi Bauer has given up nursing too. She found her true talents were in dramatics. Isn't that right Dahling? Bev Guthrie has just invented a non-breakable dress zipper. Now she can go to Sigma Chi parties with confidence. Sharon Black has just completed her first book, How to Mix Marriage With a Career. We tried to get an opinion from her husband Stan as to how it was working out, but he was in the middle of his cooking class and the instructor wouldnt let us bother him. Betty Smith's money-making projects have finally paid off. She got that patent on her plastic belts and now supplies them to the Nursing Office at St. Luke's. Runs quite a business too. Betty Harr has opened a maternity style shopg she likes the clothes so well, she does her own modeling . Georgia Deer has been the perfect farmer's wife, except for the brief period she spent at Menninge'r's for her obsessive compulsive behavior. It seems she was scrubbing the barn with wescodyne at mid- night? . , Dove Ann Gregory now holds the position of associate director of nursing education. Boy, do the stu- dents have fun these days! , , , Barbara Martin has a job writing propaganda for Russia. They recognized her talent for glamorizing the facts before we did.
