The aim of every student who graduates from St. Luke's is to serve God and Country. Some graduates have tried harder and served better than others, but there are a few who have served best of all. These are the ones who have left everything to follow Christ, the boys who have entered the seminary, the girls who have entered the convent. For they have chosen the better part. They serve God, be- cause they continue the work of the Apostles by bringing His light to all nations. They serve country through their work in teaching the young, ministering to the sick, in caring for the orphaned, the aged, the blind, they serve country in a thousand needed ways, building a strong, a greater America, a nation so great that we can be as fiercely proud of being Americans as we are of being Catholics. In very recent years, three girls from St. Luke's have been given God's most precious gift, a vocation. They have joined the order of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Newark, and begun their new life at the Novitiate of St. Michael's at Englewood Cliffs. Barbara Horwitt entertains a group of senior girls at St. Michaelis Novitiate in in Englewood. Remember Mary Jane Cooke fbetter known as Midgej ? She was a senior the year 'the class of '55 were freshmen. Everyone knew Midge as a pleasant, smiling girl with perhaps a little bit of tomboy in her, but those who knew her well were not at all surprised when she entered the convent, for Midge was a girl who knew what she wanted out of life. Now she is Sister Hyacinth. More of us perhaps remember Carole Moore, a more recent graduate fthe class of ,53. Carole was in everything, cheerleading, Taurus, Pin- darian, and most of the clubsj. Now as Sister Carole, she uses the same vivacity as a bride of Christ. We all remember Pat Wall, who graduated just last year, now Sister Josepha. Pat was the wonder known as The Great Wall because of her powers in sports. Now Sister Josepha will show in more important fields the same energy and determination that distinguished Pat Wall on the basketball court or softball field. BRIDES OF CHRIST Pictured are three graduates of St. Lukeis, all members of St. Michaelis Novitiate, Englewood. Sister Iosepha, Sister Carole, Sister Hya- cinth.
