Hutson, R. Curl, C. Greene, A. Willes, G. Howell R. Leverett. The Fort Pierce Chapter FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA is only four years old but is proud of its record. It. has won a place of respect among the student body, the faculty and the people of the community. Last year these boys did as their projects, 36 acres of crops, 4-22 head of livestock and 4-126 head of poultry and 5252 cuttings with a net income of 8534-,309.32, all of which was' done outside of school time. Because of the outstanding work of these boys last year the Fort Pierce Chapter was awarded an attractive certificate for winning second place in the district--this year they are striving for first place in the state. The FFA Chapter provides an excel- lent opportunity in leadership training. y The Chapter officers display this lead- ership while conducting the more than five chapter meetings held each month. The membership is divided into two equal groups of eighth grade boys and one high school group of high school FFA members. Each group has its own officers. These boys own their own livestock herd of 10 cattle, three of which are registered, they farm 15 acres in crops, manage 625 acres of pasture with much of the pasture land in slash pine. i V Athanas, his sponsor and his prize'calf. 80 A
