1947 funior- eaiior Laznquelf and from Dear Diary: We can never forget the marvelous time we had at the New Fort Pierce Hotel on May l6, l947, when the traditional junior-Senior Banquet and Prom were held. A magnolia centerpiece with moss, tern, iris and jasmine was the decoration on each table. Placed in the flowers and moss were candles in crystal holders. At each place as favors were tiny bales of cotton and nut cups made in the design of southern belies. Highlighting the typical southern menu were fried chicken and peach pie ala mode served by twenty black-face sophomores. The program, furthering the Old South theme consisted of two solos, a reading, and a black-face tap numbert At nine o'clock the Prom began with music furnished by George Saleeby's Star Dustersf' The orchestra was enclosed in a picket fence, Ropes of moss and flowers were strung around the room and punch was served from a well surrounded by flowers and moss. Our highly successful Banquet and Prom closed at one o'clock.
